to call on Zen to build a platform that could help to drive
a prosperous future. Zen has a catalogue of experience
in building new environments with AWS, so DeltaOne
Solutions knew it was in safe hands.

When the US stock market closes and when the European
stock market opens, we know we’re going to be busy,”
Bernie said. “Being able to utilise the scalability AWS
offers has opened up a whole new world for us, because
we know we have all the capacity we could ever need
to function at our best performance levels.
Should we suffer a failure, we’re able to spin up new
environments rapidly and because the server is built on
intrinsic code written especially for us by Zen, we’re
able to build those new environments from anywhere
in the world – and still access our databases. There’s
no single point of failure, and the speed at which we
can carry out our processes has improved significantly
since moving to AWS.

THE CHALLENGE
Though DeltaOne Solutions’ in-house platforms are tailored to their requirements. Its hosting was not built for growth and
DeltaOne Solutions had outgrown its capabilities; application performance, availability and effective disaster recovery were
hugely restricted as a result.
Bernie Thurston, Global Head of DeltaOne Solutions, explained the limitations brought on by their old solution.
We were having to purchase hardware on such a regular basis in order to continue processing efficiently,
that it became unsustainable,” he said. “If our systems go down, we need to be able to recover within five minutes.
With our old solution it was becoming increasingly hard to provide that; we physically didn’t have the capabilities
because our hardware created such a bottleneck.
