2. Donot accuse Satan
Two extremes :
-- Denying the existence / influence of evil spirits
-- Attributing all our failures to Satan
3. We are responsible for our sins
● Satan can only tempt us as he tempted Jesus
● He cannot defeat us without our cooperation
If Satan had been solely responsible for the failure of Adam
and Eve ,
God need not have brought curses upon them
The curses :Gen 3:16-19
● Jesus taught us to pray , “forgive us our sins “
4. Step 1 - Desires
Step 2 - Temptations
Step 3 - Sin
Step 4 - Death
5. We can ….
● Rebuke the devil (Mt 17:18).
● Cast out the devil (Mt 10:1,8).
● Refuse to give place to the devil (Eph 4:27)
● Resist the devil (Js 4:7).
● Watch against the devil (1 Pet 5:8).
6. In prayer we address God, not Satan.
Jesus called His experience in Gethsemene
as the "hour and power of darkness" (Lk 22:53)
He resorted only to prayer - “to the Father”
7. Be God-conscious, not devil-conscious, in prayer.
The open Throne of Grace (Heb 4:16)
The Blood of Christ (Heb 10:19-22)
The Heavenly Advocate (1 Jn 2:1)
"He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (1
Jn 4:4)
Be spiritual... at the same time, be Scriptural also!
