How to climb the ladder ,earn the respect and get to where you want to be

ARE YOU UNHAPPY WITH WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR WORK LIFE??
WANT TO ACHIEVE MORE THAN YOU HAVE SO FAR ??

2. It’s not easy to build a character and
have discipline
But it’s not impossible either

3. Simple Facts that I want you to think about…
We all spend more time if not as much in a week with
colleagues than our loved one’s
We all have inner ambitions & want a happy work
environment without politics
Only you can change and make things better for you – but
you have to be willing to change

4. In order to shine like a diamond you have to
get cut like a diamond
 You have to be willing to hear the truth
 You have to be willing to take constructive criticism
 You have to be willing to take on professional development
 You have to find out what it is you want - Nothing is impossible
Read on only if you are willing to make the changes in order to get what you want
and where you want to be

5. They say that the truth Shall set you free But
the truth hurts…
In the past 6 months have you done anything that deserves
recognition above all others?
Do you honestly give 110% of your time and effort at work?
Do you respond positively to constructive criticism?
Do you genuinely compliment and respect your colleagues and
treat them the way you would expect to be treated?
Are you seen as part of the team or a loan wolf?

7. Change No 1- Discipline
Change the obvious ……
Today is the day when everything changes – Life is too short to want something and not work for it

8. First Step - building Discipline
 Make sure you are one of the first in and last out !! Make use of your time and learn your trade
 Always dress smart – If you dress like a clown then expect to be treated like a clown
 Think hard about what is you want to achieve and how it would make you happy
 Write you Goals down
 Make a professional plan on how you intend to get to your goals- write it down!
 Discipline yourself to spend your time wisely at work and give more than what is expected – (You
will be noticed – Even if no one acknowledges your efforts)
 Ignore negative comments – People may hate you as it makes them look bad
 Expect pain and disappointment and remember there is no gain without pain (if it was easy,
everybody would do it)

9. Discipline & Rules
First rule is that you have to keep raising the bar if you see no
change and remember no one said it was going to be easy
Second Rule : Don’t give up – don’t give in – you can’t put in 50%
and expect 100% back
Third Rule : Keep your written goals with you at all times and look
and think about them when you at a low

10. Second Step :Building Character
The hardest part
Take a look at the people you admire (in and out of work) and work out what the differences are
between them and you
Take an audit of yourself and how people see you at work
Remember you have to do this to get to where you want to be

11. Character Building will change the way
people perceive you
Step 1 : Take the lead – always be one of the first to offer to help in any given situation
Step 2 : 2 Ears One Mouth – Listen more talk less and always ask questions and
write down responses and try to understand what you colleagues/clients are saying
Step 3: Do not give your word likely – If you make a commitment – then stick to
it no matter what ! – Your word is what will gain peoples trust and respect

12. Confucius once said “those that
said they can’t and those that
said they can are both usually
right !
Keep telling yourself you can do this and don’t give up until your ambitions become a
reality

13. Pain
 Always remember – Pain may last an hour , a day or even a year ,but eventually it will
pass, If you give up however ,it will last forever
 At the end of pain is success (take a look at all the great athletes and see what they
have gone through to get to their goals)
 Fights are won in the hours or relentless workouts and training in the rain and snow –
not in the Arena- THAT IS WHY PLANNING AND GOALS ARE IMPORTANT
 Challenge yourself, push yourself – Leave no opportunity behind
 Forget about all your mistakes in the past – LIVE IN THE HERE AND NOW
 There are 86,400 seconds in a day – its up to you not to waste them

14. Don’t let fear get in your way!
