1. LIFE INSURANCE
April 7 of every year is, World Health Day, 2014 Day focuses on “VECTOR BORNE DISEASES” such as malaria,
schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, dengue, and others that may be caused by flies. This year slogan is “SMALL BITE, BIG
THREAT”.
To start with, let me remind us of this Qur’an verse; “Laqad kana lakum fi rasulillahi uswatun hasanatun liman kana
yaruju Allaha wa yaumal akhira wa dakar Allaha khathira”, Surat Ahzab (33) v 21.
“Wa nunazil minal Qur’an ma uwa shifaaun wa rahmatun lil mu’min, wala yazidu dholimina ila khasara”,Surat
Isarai(17) v 82
Ibn Abass related from Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “there are two ofAllah’s favours ofwhich many people
lack; health and free time”. (Bukhariand Tirimidhi)
It was reported by Abu Huraira that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “O servant ofAllah, take medicine for your
illness, for Allah the exalted doesnot create any diseasesexcept he has created its cure, except one illness(and that
is old age) (Bukhari)
TYPES OF SICKNESS
There are two types of sickness, they are;
1. The Heart Sickness – This is spiritual, and may include polytheism, ignorance, doubt and others
2. The Physical or Body Sickness – these may include malaria, leprosy, arthritis, and others.
The causes of physical or body sickness can be trace to;
1. The Liquids we drink
2. The Eatables
3. The Inhales
4. Contract from carriers
Prevention
Jabir ibn Abdullahi reported that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “Every illness as a medicine; ifthe medicine
for a particular illness is used, the illness will be cured with Allah’s permission (bi idzni Allahi)” (Muslim)
Ibn Abass reported that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “Medicine is part ofdestiny (Qadaar), Allah benefits
whoever he wills with whatever he wills” (Sahih Jamii Albaani)
Making Medicine
It is unlawful in Islam to make medicine with forbidden materials by Allah, these may include
1. Dry gin
2. Wine
3. Schinap
4. Alcohol
5. Beer
6. Helm
7. Ponche
8. Palm wine
9. Cigarette; and others alike.
Tariq ibn Suwaid reported that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “Indeed,Allah put not your healing in what he
made unlawful (haram) for you”. (Bukhari)
2. Try the following and be prevented
Wash your mouth and teeth with good synthetic toothbrush and or stick toothbrush (at least twice a day) as March
20 annually is the World Teeth Day. It was reported by “Abu Huraira that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said
“Had I not fear burdening my Ummah (follwers), I would have commanded them to use siwak (stick
toothbrush) before every Salat (Prayer)” (Ahmaad and An – Nasai).
Drink much of good water every time and at right time (10 to 20 minutes before food and 20 to 30 minutes after
food, it is recommended you drink at least 4 litres a day), as March 23 every year mark World Water Day.
Eat fresh fruits and vegetables always (food choices affect your health, make half your plate fruits and vegetables)
Eat less of processed food (can food, can drinks, and others)
Drink milk, skim milk and eat cheese (Wara)
Drink pap and tea (beverages,but not in excess)
Eat little sugar and salt
Eat cooked beans or food made from beans and much proteins food
Eat little beef (cattle meat, but the visceral organs are good), mutton (sheep and ram meat) and goat meat are very
good.
Drink pure honey always whether sick or not, “Then eat all fruits, and follow the ways of your lord made easy
(for you). There comes forth from their bellies a drink of varying colour wherein is healing for men. Verily,
in this is indeed a sign for people who think.” Surat Nahl(16) v 69
Eat garlic and gingers always (they help in blood cleansing)
“Take a break to avoid breakdown” Sleep on time and have enough sleep, rest and relax well to avoid
breakdown engage in regular exercise.
Observe your body regularly to detect any change that may have occur in any part of your body (your stomach,
skin, mouth, testes,breast and others)
Avoid carriers (in persons and flies; mosquitoes, housefly, bugs, etc), always sleep under the insecticide treated
mosquitoes net
Always clean your environment, house (rooms, toilet, gutter, bathroom, kitchen, etc)
Chemicals, lighter, candle, matches,gas, electric and electrical electronics must be put away from children
Visit the hospital for general body check (examination), BP (Blood Pressure),PCV,and others.
TO THE NURSING MOTHERS
Never force feed your children
If you notice any strange signs in your children rush them to a very good government or private hospital
Never capitalize on TEETH FAECES – IGBE EYIN, there is no medical proof for such it is said to be caused
by lack of cleanliness, or some other form of ailment.
Bath your children always, at least morning and night with clean warm or cool water
Always use petroleum jelly cream on their body to prevent MEASLES
Be carefulof the food and water you give to your children to prevent diarrhea.
