Parsons' West County Connectors Project Receives
Transportation Project of the Year Award
PASADENA, CA (April 20, 2015) – Parsons is pleased to announce that the West County Connectors
project—a joint venture with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Orange County
Transportation Authority (OCTA)—has been named Transportation Project of the Year by the California
Transportation Foundation. The 6-mi project links carpool lanes on I-405 with those on SR-22 and I-605.
“Parsons is honored to have received this prestigious award along with OCTA and Caltrans,” said Todd Wager,
Parsons Group President. “Together, we have reduced traffic congestion and increased motorist safety on three
major freeways in the Orange County and Long Beach, CA, areas.”
Crossing the cities of Garden Grove, Westminster, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, and Long Beach, as well as the
community of Rossmoor, the West County Connectors project involved the construction of two direct carpool
connectors between SR-22, I-405, and I-605, plus the addition of a second carpool lane in each direction on
I-405. In addition, on- and off-ramps, soundwalls, and retaining walls were constructed and landscaping was
added.
Parsons was responsible for developing conceptual planning studies and final engineering documents, as well
as plans, specifications, and estimates. Parsons also provided construction support for the east segment of the
project.
