2. What is cocaine?
▪ Cocaine is a stimulant drug mostly used for recreational purposes.
▪ Cocaine has the appearance of a white, fine powder.
▪ Cocaine is made from synthesizing the coca plant that is found in
South America.
– However, the drug can be, and often is on the street, cut with substances such
cornstarch, talcum powder, powdered sugar, powdered milk, or other drugs like
amphetamines or caffeine
▪ Cocaine is most commonly snorted.

▪ Depression
▪ Nasal damage

last a lot longer than that night of partying.
7. Stand Out Quote to Think About…
▪ “Cocaine is one of the most lethal illegal substances…”
– The reason why I chose this quote is because not many people will agree with this.
However, I strongly stand by this due to the fact that cocaine is so easily altered, and
cut with lethal substances. Many people believe that cocaine is just a party drug and
nothing that is too bad can happen to them if they just do a quick bump at a party.
There is no way to know what is being cut into that one bump of cocaine, and that is
where people make the lethal mistakes.
8. Discussion Question
▪ Do you believe that people our age take this drug as
seriously as they should? Do you think that people take it
too seriously? Explain your thoughts.
