United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
Islamabad - Pakistan
United States Agency for International Development is the US Government
Mission in Pakistan working to elevate the current standard and general know-
how in various sectors including education, health, power, agriculture, and
democracy & governance.
Systems Manager (May 2008 to October 2015)
Served as IT Systems Manager with the Mission as senior Foreign Service
National (FSN) and was responsible for day-to-day IT requirements of the Mission
such as user management, trouble shooting, help and advice, maintaining
desktop applications, local area networks, IT Systems security and
managing telecommunication equipment. I was also responsible for effectively
balancing the business needs with its IT capability; constantly reviewing
processes and identifying ways to improve efficiency & service-delivery, and
proactively managing all areas of technology within the Mission. My job was
based in USAID Islamabad office with the broader scope of managing the IT for
Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi, and Lahore offices. These regional offices were
connected through VPN.
During my tenure, I have completed several IT projects including hardware
refresh (both servers and workstations), applications and operating system
upgrades, IT Infrastructure move (between one building to another) and setting
up new IT infrastructure in regional offices. I also led the trainings for the
Mission’s users on new application products. The information security remained
as my primary priority; hence I performed the system scanning, audit and
deployment of necessary software updates and patches for servers and
workstations. I also developed various policies, procedures, and SOPs related to

Worked as IT Manager, and was responsible for day-to-day IT requirements of
the company such as user management, trouble shooting, help and advice,

project referred to GI-D (Group Infrastructure – Desktop) and required

prepared Information Security Management Framework, completed SAQ
(Self-Assessment Questionnaire) for auditors, and got entire platform
audited by KPMG auditors.
 Raised IT and Information Security awareness among the users.

Islamabad – Pakistan
Occidental Petroleum Pakistan Inc. is a company of Occidental Oil & Gas
Corporation, USA and it worked for Oil & Gas Production in Pakistan through
various joint venture projects and successfully drilled and produced oil/gas from
Badin fields.
MIS Supervisor (August 1995 to May 1998)
As MIS Supervisor, I was responsible for all IT related activities including
infrastructure, network design and deployment (LAN/WAN),
telecommunication setup for remote sites, service delivery to users, IT
budget preparation, project management etc.

exploration & production in the province of Punjab and successfully drilled and
produced oil & gas from Ratana and Dhurnal fields.

As MIS Services Supervisor, I was responsible for service delivery to end-users.

expanded for the users in the field offices. Although OPI had their own software
development team, I developed few PC-based applications for ‘Material Ordering’

In 1995, the asset of the company was sold to Hashwani Group, and my services

State Engineering Corporation is a state owned corporation managing various
engineering companies in Pakistan including PECO, HMC, HEC, HMTF etc.
Assistant Manager Computers (December 1990 to November 1991)
As Assistant Manager Computers, I was responsible for identifying the area of
automation within SEC business operation, software analysis and
design/development, users training, applications support, and IT
infrastructure need for end users. During my short stay with the corporation,
I developed couple of business applications including Provident Fund accounting.

EGS is a nation-wide solution provider company covering all major cities of
Pakistan. EGS was the first IBM authorised dealer for marketing and providing
after sale service for IBM PS/2 series of desktop.

As Systems Analyst, I was responsible for designing and developing various
software applications for private sector. I was also responsible for Quality
Assurance of all in-house developed application software. Users training,

MIS Supervisor (August 1995 to May 1998) As MIS Supervisor, I was responsible for all IT related activities including infrastructure, network design and deployment (LAN/WAN), telecommunication setup for remote sites, service delivery to users, IT budget preparation, project management etc. In my role as responsible for IT matters, I was functionally reporting to Group Network Manager based in Bakersfield, CA, USA. State Engineering Corporation Islamabad – Pakistan State Engineering Corporation is a state owned corporation managing various engineering companies in Pakistan including PECO, HMC, HEC, HMTF etc. Assistant Manager Computers (December 1990 to November 1991) As Assistant Manager Computers, I was responsible for identifying the area of automation within SEC business operation, software analysis and design/development, users training, applications support, and IT infrastructure need for end users. Limited Islamabad – Pakistan EGS is a nation-wide solution provider company covering all major cities of Pakistan. EGS was the first IBM authorised dealer for marketing and providing after sale service for IBM PS/2 series of desktop. Systems Analyst (September 1989 – December 1990) As Systems Analyst, I was responsible for designing and developing various software applications for private sector. I was also responsible for Quality Assurance of all in-house developed application software. Users training, system study/analysis and preparation of technical proposals for new software projects were also part of my responsibilities. My reporting line was Technical Director. Limited Karachi – Pakistan Software Application Limited is a large software house engaged in developing various application software projects of national level including, Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited, State Life Insurance Corporation, Trading Corporation of Pakistan, and Karachi Port Trust. Systems Analyst (January 1987 to August 1989) During my stay with the company as Systems Analyst, I was the team lead for the development of two national-wide application software projects. The first project was automation of telephone billing system under UNIX Operating System for Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited and second project was the automation of group policy services for State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC).
