How To Improve iOS 9 Battery Life – iPhone,
iPad & iPod Tips
Source : http://mymobotips.com/how-to-improve-ios-9-battery-life-iphone/
Hey guys, here I am going to share with you some quick battery saving tips for iOS 9.
After updating iOS 9, I have read on many forums from other people that “iOS 9 made my
battery life so much worse, and it’s laggy and slow“.
So, this article will help you fix both of those issues but mostly I will be focusing on getting the
most battery life out of your iOS 9 devices.
First of all I want to tell you one thing, iOS 9 itself introduces low power mode and on its own it
makes your battery life better by one hour.
So, as you guys know, all you need to do to enable low power mode is to go into the battery
settings and enable Low Power Mode. This will extend your battery life by four hours or at least
up to four hours when you have that little yellow battery.
I don’t know whether you knows or not, so want to mention that when you do enable Low power
mode, it actually limit CPU usage by up to 40%, so your performance will go down, and things
will be a little laggy.
But, I guess it is worth to sacrifice when you really need to enhance your battery life. Just want
you to aware that your performance will go down to that of an iPhone 5s.
Besides this, what can you do to extend your battery and surprisingly there is so much. I am
going to let you know everything I know about How to improve iOS 9 battery life.
Whether or not you want to go ahead and enable these features or disable them that will be up to
you because some of these do cripple your device a little bit. But I will tell you from most
extreme to least extreme.
How To Improve iOS 9 Battery Life Tips

1. Background App Refresh
Probably the biggest feature that has the most significant impact on battery life is the
Background App Refresh.
So, this is where your background applications keep refreshing, and they use your processing
power and battery life.
You need to disable the Background app refresh option in order to restrict the background
Application refreshing.
2. Notifications
Next, I want you guys to go into your notifications options and disable notifications of
everything you don’t need like games, tips, podcasts, etc.
Because all those stuff drains your battery life by giving notifications, you don’t need. So
everything that you don’t use in Notifications then go ahead and turn it off because this helps
with speed and battery life believe it or not.
Display – You have to disable Auto Brightness. Usually, you should keep brightness at about
half way because that’s a good happy medium between too extreme and way too bright.
And it will not blind your eyes too.
Control Centre – Next is to go to your control centre, if everything is on there then you are
wasting a ton of battery life for no reason.
Also, turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you don’t need it, but use Wi-Fi when you’re at home
because if you don’t have access to a battery charger, then using Wi-Fi instead of LTE or data
will extend your battery life greatly.
3. Handoff and Suggested Apps
Now if you don’t have a Mac computer then your Handoff settings should be off because the
only reason you have to communicate with your Mac computer or with an iPad and pick it up
where you left off.

And also turn off the suggested apps as well if you don’t need it. That feature is basically on your
lock screen. Whenever you are near Starbucks or Bank America, then you have that app on your
device.
It will actually pop up in the left corner of your phone based on your location, I think it’s a little
bit pointless but could be convenient for some people.
4. App and iTunes Store
Go to you App and iTunes Store and disable automatic updates and if suggested apps are on
then, you should turn them off.
So, that way you will save a lot of processing power and battery life as well by not running tasks
in the background and you can also save a little amount of data by this.
5. Privacy
1. Motion and Fitness – If you don’t care about fitness tracking, and you don’t track it,
your device regularly uses your data from the M8 coprocessor and collect it. So you need
to disable it so that it won’t track your movements.
2. Advertising – Go to the Advertising setting and disable Limit Ad Tracking. Limit Ad
Tracking not only help limit the types of advertising they place on Safari web browser
but saves a little bit battery life as well.
3. Location Services – You should turn off location services when you are not using it. You
can better filter the apps down there that you want to enable or disable. You can go
further into System services to turn off the apps you don’t need. So this is what your
iPhone does in the background, it tracks you and save all your locations and frequent
locations. It helps with Siri pro-activity, so if you disable it, then Siri pro-activity won’t
be as effective.
6. iCloud
Also Check : Top 10 Things About iCloud Drive : You Need To Know
iCloud has many options inside of it so whichever one of these you don’t use, you need to turn it
off. For example, if you don’t sync calendars and any other one that you don’t sync with your
iCloud account, just turn them off. Also iCloud Keychain, not only this thing is most annoying
when it comes to notifications that keep reminding you over and over again. So turn if off
because it does help you with battery life a little bit.
7. Mail, Contacts, and Calendar
Go ahead and disable Fetch New Data so this means you have to go manually into the mail
application to refresh for your mail. So that’s the way it’s not always searching your emails.
So, overall these are the most effective things you can do to keep your battery life up. Now, I am
going to let you know the last few things that could extend your battery life by the few minutes
when you need them the most.
Airplane Mode
Turn off the Airplane Mode when you are not using it. It will limit the cellular searching for
service and communications, and that would save some battery life as well.
Sounds
Turn off the vibration mode as it saves every little bit juice where it counts.
Privacy
Go to Diagnostic & Usage and disable the Don’t send option that restrict sending daily
Diagnostic & usage data and it also turn off data collection on your Apple watch. It helps your
battery life to extend a little bit.
Settings
Accessibility – Go into General and then accessibility and there are two things you can do
increase battery life. First of Increase Contrast, this will reduce transparency and make your
device faster. But, after this your phone will look a little bit different as the things will be darker.
Reduce Motion – Disable the Reduce Motion that will reduce the parallax effects on your home
screen so that you no longer get fancy animations, but it will make your device little faster as
well.
When you have your phone on your desk, you can help save battery by keeping it face down.
When you get notifications iOS, 9 will not light up the screen when you have it face down
because iOS 9 uses proximity sensors. So it uses as an advantage to the battery life.
Besides this, you can restart your device once a day that does help to keep things running
smoothly and enhance the battery life as well.
One last thing is let your battery dies once in a month all the way down so that your iPhone shuts
down completely and then charge it up to 100%.
It is called battery reconditioning / calibrating, and it helps to keep your battery in tip top shape
to ensure maximum performance.
So, that is how to get the most of the battery life out of iOS. I have told you to the most
extremes, but if you pick and choose which one settings need in this article, you can get the most
performance without crippling your device.
