Purpose
Plan Bee: Introduction and Expansion of
Modern Beekeeping and Honey
Production in Shan State aims to
increase livelihood and food security
opportunities of communities and
vulnerable groups through the
advancement of beekeeping with the
support of LIFT. We aim to:
• Increase agricultural production and
yield via pollination services
• Increase income and expand
income-generation activities, such
as the sale of honey and apiculture
products
o Especially for vulnerable
groups including women,
ethnic minorities, and the
disabled
• Improve nutrition, health, and
increase food security through
diversified agricultural production
• Support natural resource
management and environmental
sustainability
• Strengthen civil society and DOA
collaborative activities
What we do
Awareness raising among communities
and farmers of the benefits of
beekeeping, pollination, and honey are
key. Beneficiaries who participate in our
project are put into cooperatives using a
Community Based Enterprise (CBE)
model.
We then develop their skills through
various training programmes that cover
the following topics and more:
• Queen bee rearing
• Pollen and propolis collecting
• Migration options for hives
• Candle and balm making
• Marketing and finance
• Nutrition

products made by CBEs, and learn
more about apiculture.

development: honey, beeswax candles,

Tag aims to increase household incomes by 50%
through the sale of honey and other bee by-
products such as beeswax candles and balm
The average household income of our
CBEs is 102,065 kyats per month and
we aim to increase this by 50%.
Impact
