Bureaucratic management is a management technique that uses a system of rules and procedures to organize and control an organization's work to achieve its goals. It was coined in the late 19th century by Max Weber, who believed clearly defined rules and roles were important for running an organization successfully. Bureaucracy describes both public sector organizations like the military and private sector businesses. Key traits include a focus on processes and structures over individuals, hierarchical management structures, division of labor, and formal rules and regulations to ensure predictable behavior.

their goal . Different theory was given to successfully run the organization such as
classical management theory, modern management theory and behavioral
management theory. Max Weber was one of the German sociologist coined the term
Bureaucratic management in the late 19th century. He believed that for successfully
running organization rules and role of specified person is important. Bureaucratic
management is a types of management technique given which uses a system of rules
and procedures to organize and control the work of an organization and ultimately
achieve organizational goal. Bureaucracy term has been used to describe both public
sector bureaucracies such as the military, education, judicial and health systems and
private sector bureaucracies such as the modern business corporation.

• There are some basic traits of bureaucratic management;
• process-oriented approach: mainly focused on how to improve the efficiency
and effectiveness of the organization by making necessary process and improving
them.
• focuses on organizational structures and processes as opposed to individuals:
Not only focused on individual but focused on whole organization up.
• an ambiguous definition: leads to confusion as to what actually constitutes
bureaucracy.
• too rigid and inflexible in nature: Because of too rigid and inflexible nature in
bureaucracy , staffs feel like slave of the organization. It is one of the major
disadvantages of bureaucratic management.
4. Characteristics of Bureaucratic management
Modern organization, which are large, and complex uses thus form of
management technique. The main goal of this type of management is to
keep the organization running smoothly, efficiently and achieve their target
goal.
• Hierachial management structure:- Each level controls the levels below
and is controlled by the level above. Authority and responsibilities are
clearly defined for each position.
• Division of Labor:- Tasks are clearly defined and employees become
skilled by specializing in doing one thing. There is a clear definition of
authority and responsibility.
5. • Formal selection process:- employee selection and promotion are
based on experience, competence, and technical qualification
demonstrated by examinations, education, or training. There is no
nepotism
• Carrier orientation:- management is separate from ownership, and
managers are career employees. Protection from arbitrary dismissal is
guaranteed.
• Formal rules and regulation:- rules and regulations are documented
to ensure reliable and predictable behavior. Managers must depend on
formal organization rules in employee relations.
• Impersonality relationship:- rules are applied uniformly to everyone.
There is no preferential treatment or favoritism.
