2. INTRODUCING#THE#GLOBAL#FUND#FOR#FORGOTTEN#PEOPLE#
The!Global!Fund!for!Forgotten!People!is!part#of#the#Order#of#Malta.!It!was!
established!in!2011!by!the!Grand!Master!to!help#raise#awareness#of,#and#
additional#funds#for,#Order#of#Malta#works#across#the#world.##
!
The#focus#is#on#forgotten#people!–!such!as!the!elderly,!the!homeless!and!
the!marginalised!and!persecuted!–!those!who,!even!in!our!modern!world,!
when!the!spotlight!of!attention!seems!to!shine!everywhere,!are#suffering#
beneath#the#surface.!!

So!the!Fund#supports#local#works#of#the#Order%in#all#parts#of#the#world%
that#are#making#a#difference#to#hard5to5reach,#overlooked#
communities.#
The#Lourdes#pilgrimage#exemplifies#what#the#Order#does#and#how#and#why#–#
bringing#together#members,#volunteers#and#associations#from#all#over#the#
world#in#their#care#for#Malades.#The#hope#is#that#the#Global#Fund#will#
highlight#the#magnitude#of#work#done#by#the#Order#throughout#the#world#and#
in#time#will#act#to#unite#us#in#our#further#service#of#the#sick#and#the#poor.#

THE#GLOBAL#FUND#IS#UP#AND#RUNNING!
In!the!past!year,!the!Global!Fund!has!moved!from!concept!to!reality.!
Activity!to!raise#awareness#and#funds#for!the!forgotten!is!underway!and!
has!enabled!the!Fund!to!make!its!first#grants.!
ENVOYS#TO#THE#FUND
A!select!number!of!people!are!being!appointed!as!Envoys!of!the!Fund.!
Three#Envoys!have!been!formally!appointed,!each!with!responsibility!for!
championing#and#supporting!one!of!the!particular!issues!addressed!by!
the!Fund.!This!network!will!help!deliver!the!Fund's!fundraising!objectives!
and!help!raise!awareness!of!the!plight!of!the!forgotten.!
