APrIR thanks the teachers who were members of the successive committees for having worked so hard for over
thirty years to support fellow-teachers in their pursuit of professional development as well as in the establishment
of bonds with other professionals around the country and abroad.
Our mind may sometimes fail to recall past activities that members of the association were able to join in: FAAPI
seminars 1986 and 2006 and XI CONGRESS 2005- all of them, held in Rosario -, numerous Special Interest
Groups, lectures on a variety of topics, the publication of APrIR’s Journal, chatting teas, interesting workshops and
even joyful social gatherings.
APrIR is one of the very few teachers’ associations which offer a library and video collection and premises where
teachers may get together to share common interests.
The 2010-2012 Committee is keen to offer such and other benefits to its members, but above all, we would like to
foster a sense of belonging. We would like to provide the means for you to connect with like-minded teachers
nationwide, and even worldwide.
As a teacher of English and a member of APrIR, in the next few months you will find a number of benefits:
• A renovated site, linked to social networks, for teachers of English to stay connected, share their views
and materials,
• APrIR’s virtual journal, both to read and publish what associates write,
• A variety of Special Interest Groups, meetings during which teachers can discuss professional issues
and share expertise, free for Members!
• Workshops conducted by experts in different fields, free for Members,
• Activities in English – and Spanish – to share with teachers of other subjects and the general public.
• Discount prices for webinars, seminars and events in general.
• Special activities for active and retired teachers who are willing to stay tuned with English language and
culture.
• Legal advice on professional matters.
And, above all, innumerable instances to practise the language we love.
o If you are on the verge of burnout and you need to regain your passion for teaching,
o If you can’t remember how long you’ve been teaching the same level and want to give your
language a boost,
o If you need to find new horizons, and break the boundaries of your classroom,
o If, on the contrary, you're taking your first steps in the profession and need help to learn the ropes,
o Or if you have expertise to share with colleagues and are ready to bring up issues for discussion,
do come and join us at APrIR.
Dear colleagues, English teachers: we need one another, and the place to meet is APrIR.
APrIR can turn a teacher into a professional.
