ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Strategic Communications
When the Marine Corps was embattled with disciplinary issues, sexual assaults, and
suicide over the past ten years; I conceptualized and developed over 20 strategic
messaging projects synchronizing visual information and public affairs to reach multiple
internal and external audiences. I lead and guided the work of technical staff, served as
liaison between senior leadership and operations teams, and planned project stages
assessing necessary outcomes that resulted in a 35% increase of hotline calls and
online and social media activity.
Media Relations
Prepared multiple briefings and senior leaders for over 40 media engagements.
Developed strategies including news and feature format for key military initiatives and
played a leading role in developing digital media. Developed responses and strategies
for communications around sensitive or complex issues including crisis management
during the recent 2014 San Diego Wildfires. I possess strong writing skills with expert
knowledge of digital communications systems and multimedia story telling.
Public Relations
In an effort to build and maintain positive relationships between the Marine Corps and
Southern California communities including San Diego, Orange, and Riverside counties,
I identified, directed, and supervised the completion of over 100 community relations’
projects sustaining local public support and reinforcing national recognition of the
Marine Corps brand as a pillar for community support.
Marketing
To support both short-and-long-range marketing goals as well as a partnership with the
city of Seattle Washington during Marine Week 2014, I oversaw the conception,
development, and dissemination of 20 marketing products including creation/design of
thousands of printed materials and advertisements, media purchases/placement, and
event promotions connecting the American public with the Marine Corps.
Social Networking
To increase visibility and funding for weapons and training aviation programs I analyzed
and recommended audience development strategies for targeting stories and products
in support of strategic initiatives via social media including: Facebook, Flicker, Twitter,
Linked-In, Vimeo, and publicly displayed websites.
Media Development
When Marine Corps formal schools were facing low-test scores among 18-24 year old
entry-level students, a front-end analysis provided that a generational gap existed in the
delivery of instructional material. As a result I was tasked with standing up a media
center devoted to the production of technical drawings and models, layout and design,
hand drawn illustrations, computer graphics, digital editing, web and multimedia
authoring. I conceptualized, implemented, and performed media production,
communication, and instructional techniques and methods increasing test scores by
nearly 40 percent.
