Mental health is the major aspect of health. Now a days stress is common among everyone. All facing stress in day to day activities so, stress management techniques is very useful to get ride over any kind of stress.
2. INTRODUCTION OF STRESS
Stress is a normal psychological and physical reaction to the threatening demands
on individual. Stress is a process that enables the body to resist the stressor in the
best possible way, by enhancing the functioning of the organ system best able to
respond to it. It is the immediate effect to the threat or danger.
3. DEFINITION OF STRESS
• Stress is the “psychological, physiological and behavioral response by an
individual when they perceive a lack of equilibrium between the demands placed
upon them and their ability to meet those demands, which, over a period of time,
leads to ill- health”.

• Stress is tension, strain, or pressure from a situation that requires us to use, adapt,
or develop new coping skills.

4. DEFINITION OF STRESS MANAGEMENT
Stress management is a set of techniques and programs intended to help people
deal more effectively with stress in their life by analyzing the specific stressors and
tracking positive actions to minimize their effects.

7. ACTION ORIENTED APPROACHES
• Maintain calm environment : Switch off mobile, TV and other gadgets and
spend some time in quietness each day.
• Time management : learn time management skill to avoid unnecessary stress in
relationship.
• Distract yourself : distract yourself from the bothersome thoughts, watch a
movie, or talk with a friend, go for a walk, or do something positive that takes
mind away from stressful thoughts.
8. EMOTION-ORIENTED APPROACHES
• Affirmations and imagery : replace negative thoughts with positive statements
and challenge and change the attitude.
• Cognitive restructuring : it is a technique of understanding negative emotions
and replacing it with positive thinking.
9. ACCEPTANCE-ORIENTED APPROACHES
• Diet and exercise : have a balanced and healthy diet and reduce alcohol, caffeine
and sugar intake. Exercise is a effective way to reduce stress
• Meditation and physical relaxation : use of deep breathing, guided
visualizations, yoga, and guided body scans help to manage stress.
• Progressive muscle relaxation techniques.
• Talk it out : sharing worries or feelings with others reduce stress.
• Sleep : uninterrupted sleep of approximately 8 hours is required for every
individual and help them to reduce their level of stress.

In this presentation we have discuss about the introduction and definition of stress
and we also discuss about the definition of stress management, steps taken to
manage stress and some techniques and strategies to manage stress.
