After Dr T Aao, The emergence of footballers from the North East into the
National Footballing scene started in the early 90 s when Tata Football Academy,
which has produced the backbone of all Indian teams over the last 15 years,
started recruiting boys from the North East. Over 50 % of National team players
over the last 10 years are products of TFA
Almost all I League Teams in the last decade have had players from the North
East representing them each season despite a non existent league structure in
almost all states.

The 25,000 J.N Stadium infrastructure has currently under
gone up gradation works in order for the Stadium to
comply to AFC requirements including laying of an artificial
turf and installation of Floodlights is expected to be
completed by the year end.
Practice Grounds
In addition, FIFA has built an artificial turf next to J.N
Stadium , the first right to usage going to I-League teams.
