Philton have two manufacturing facilities, based in Essex UK and Shanghai PRC. Both plants
benefit from innovative and leading edge manufacturing technology as well as first class
testing facilities.
Both plants were amongst the first to develop and register their quality standards under the
ISO Q.A. certification scheme with the UK plant becoming accredited to ISO9001 in 1989.
Philton is an inaugural member of the Container Owner’s Association (COA) Flexitank
working group since its inception in June 2007 which was set up to promote best practise
within the Flexitank industry.
Philton’s flexitanks have also undergone testing at both the TÜV Gorlitz crash centre in
Germany (result held by the COA for access by shipping line members) test report no.
CFRT0004 and China Railways test without any leakage. This record is confirmed as many
of the world’s leading Food and Chemical companies have approved and request Philton
flexitanks to ship their products.

Philton is unique! We are the only flexitank manufacturer in the world that manufacturers
both multi layered and Single ply flexitanks. We therefore are able to offer the best design
flexitank to transport your products. The Flexitanks are made using various high tensile
seamless tubular FDA/European/BGA approved food grade films and barrier materials, in
sizes ranging from 10,000 to 24,000 litre.
Flexitanks can be made with a varied selection of valve sizes and positions, air vents, auto-
vents, and numerous barriers to totally protect your products from moisture, oxygen, or
other contaminants.
We also produce an array of ancillary equipment including Philton’s unique “wall safety
lining bag”, heater pads and insulation products, as well as flexitanks for static storage, or
tautliner shipments.
Manufacture & TestingManufacture & Testing
All raw materials used in the manufacturing process are “Best in Class” and only purchased
from approved suppliers. Even so, all materials are batch tested before use in our Philton
Laboratory to give complete confidence to our customers. All raw materials are fully
traceable back to source. Furthermore, Philton 100% tests various critical parts of the
Flexitank during manufacture to ensure the highest standards within the industry are
achieved.
Philton conducts testing on any new components’ prior to use with our range of custom
designed proprietary computer controlled simulation and testing rigs.

Philton Flexitanks can be recycled and it is our recommendation that these single trip
Flexitanks are disposed of in an environmentally and socially acceptable manner, by either
re-utilizing the materials, (as long as last product shipped will not cause any adverse health
effects), or by recycling by an approved recycling contractor to make downstream products.
The materials can also be incinerated thereby giving a valuable form of energy.
