Collaborative Construction: Making BIM Work for Builders
VC_Infographic
1. HOW CAN BIM
HELP YOU?
Virtual Construction has changed the way HITT’s project teams work
together to communicate, solve problems and build better projects.
Utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes allows for
faster construction at a lesser cost.

BIM is a process, not a specific
software application
BIM can be utilized at any project
stage, but is most ideal when
utilized during conceptual design
The BIM process is integrated into
the project’s design, construction
and operation workflows

HITT uses the Autodesk building design suite
for most of its Virtual Construction needs, as
well as, products from Trimble and Bentley.
Building Information Modeling or BIM, is an innovative new method
of managing and coordinating design and construction efforts. BIM is a
process where building components are modeled in 3D and embedded
with information. That information is utilized throughout the lifecycle of
the design, construction and operations stages.

HITT has effectively applied BIM practices to
many projects over the years. We identify
and prequalify our subcontractor’s BIM
capabilities, so as to properly select the best fit
for each project.
Some ways BIM is used to save our
clients time and money are:
• Project visualization for logistics review
• Project sequencing
• Coordinate design disciplines before
construction
• Evaluate alternates
• Pre-fabricate building components
• Perform quality assurance
/ quality control
• Collect accurate new and
existing “as-built” information
• Improve documentation
• Perform facility
management
