Post Doctorate Engineer
Sept 2013 – Feb 2014 (Full time)
Systems test engineer for the European Space Agency’s (ESAs) multifunctional ROV-E project.
The focus of the job was to provide structural and thermal experimental verification of the
multifunctional power structure against given specifications. In addition I was required to:
Assist with international partners in the final design
Take part in international meetings and teleconferences
Procure and assemble electrical components and test apparatus
Arrange shipment of dangerous goods to our international partners
Become proficient in LDS vibration hardware and control software
Use Labview and Matlab for accelerometer acquisition and analysis
Design and manufacture test jigs
Create technical documents signed off by ESA FP7 project reviewers
Find and liaise with an external contractor for thermal vacuum testing
Present to an international audience at a final review meeting
The job gave me experience working in a large international team across several sites applying
myself to a multimillion Euro project. I worked to ESAs quality assurance and space engineering
testing standards ECSS-Q-ST-70C and ECSS-E-ST-10-03C respectively whilst working to a compressed
schedule to meet the final deadline.
