Main responsibilities: I am presently or in the past member in different international collaboration from Romania
and aboard:
- WILLI (Romania) – Weakly Ionizing Lepton Lead Interaction. WILLI is an experiment located in IFIN-HH
Romania and consisting on a compact calorimeter measuring the charge ratio of the atmospheric muons
at energies < 1 GeV. The project leader is involved in data analyses and Monte-Carlo simulation. The
WILLI experiment’s results are reported on several papers and contributions at international conferences
(Ex: B. Mitrica et al., Nucl.Phys.B-Proc.Suppl 196 (2009) 462-465).
- WILLI-EAS (Romania) – WILLI ExtensiveAir showers. This experiment has the objective to investigate
the muon charge ratio from individual air showers. The WILLI calorimeter has been extended with a mini-
array consisting on 12 scintillator plates. The project leader is directly responsible by the design of the
detection system and of the preliminary Monte-Carlo simulation of the detector response (I.M. Brancus,
B. Mitrica et al., Nucl.Phys.B-Proc.Suppl 196 (2009) 227-230).
- The mobile muon detector which is a system that permits to measure atmospheric muon flux, on
different locations at ground level or in underground. The project leader is the main researcher involved in
mobile muon detector. The first result of the detection system was the estimation of m.w.e. depth of the
underground of Slanic Prahova salt mine (B. Mitrica et al., AIP Conf.Proc. 1304 (2010) 459-463).
- KASCADE-Grande (Germany) – KArlsruhe Shower CoreArray DEtector – Grande. The KASCADE-
Grande experiment is focused on indirect measurements of the cosmic rays in the, so called, “knee
region” of the primary spectrum. In this collaboration, the project leader is involved in data analyses and
Monte-Carlo simulation. The results of KASCADE-Grande are illustrated on many papers and
contributions at international conferences (Ex: WD. Apel, …, B. Mitrica et al., NIM A 620: 2-3 (2010) 202-
216)
- LOPES (Germany) until 2012 - A LOFAR PrototypE Station. The LOFAR experiment proposes a new
technique based on radio emission from cosmic ray air showers (theAskaryan effect). The detection of
cosmic ray air showers by radio measurements has been for the first time reported in: H. Falke, …, B.
Mitrica et al., NATURE 435-7040 (2005) 313-316. The project leader was involved in the study of very
inclined showers (possible neutrino induced).

- LAGUNA (EU Fp7 Project) – LargeApparatus for Grand Unification and Neutrino astrophysics. LAUNA
is a project which proposes to investigate the opportunity to build a huge volume underground detector in
order to study rare events like proton decay or neutrino oscillation. In LAGUNAcollaboration.
- Pierre AUGER Observatory (Argentina) – Monitoring the activity involved by INFILL array andAERA
stations.
