AlyssaMcQueenwasan internwiththe LimaSocietyof HumanResource Management(SHRM) for five
monthsbeginninginfall of 2015 and endinginwinterof 2016. She was taskedwithdevelopingasocial
mediapresence forthe organization,anddevelopingthe chapterwebsite whichwasinaveryprimitive
state.The most challengingpartof herassignmentwasthe needtoworkindependentlywithverylittle
helpfromthe chapterofficerswhoknow little tonothingaboutsocial mediaandwebsites.
Ms. McQueensucceededdespitethe obstaclesindevelopingaFacebookpage andlogo,a Twitterpage,
and linkingthesepagestothe chapterwebsite. She developedboththe Membersonlypartof the
website,andthe publicportion. InJanuary2016 she presentedherworkatthe Chapter’sannual
meeting,andinMarch presentedherfinal reporttothe Boardmembers. To enable the organizationto
continue touse the sites,she developedtrainingmaterialsforus.
Duringthe time that I wassupervisingMs.McQueenasa Board memberof LimaSHRM, I was especially
impressednotonlybyhersocial mediaskills,butbyhertime management,herexcellent
communicationsskills,andheradaptability.The Boardwasnot alwaysresponsivetoherrequestsfor
materialsandinformation,butshe wasdiplomaticbutdetermined. She metherdeadlines,keptme
informedaboutherprogress,andadjustedherplansasneeded. She remainedunflustered,anddealtin
a positive waywithsome difficultpersonalities.
Her presentationskillsare very polished. She ispoised,articulate,andexplainsdifficultconceptswell. I
heardmany positive commentsfromthe membershipafterherpresentation,andthe Boardmembers
ratedher highlyineverycategoryof herevaluation.
She will be anassetto any organization,butparticularlyinarole where independentactionisrequired,
and where listeningtoclientsorcustomerstosolve problemsisimportant. Itwasa pleasure towork
