1. Bro. Alton Blunt is a name synonymous with Christian, Husband, Father, Friend, Music
Minister, Piano and Voice Instructor, and Choir Director that evokes an image of strength,
character, and integrity. Of the numerous titles Bro. Blunt assumes, the ones that truly
exemplifies this man’s character is Husband, to Mrs. Cherell Conerly Blunt, whom he has
been married to for twenty-four years, and Father to David and Endia LaNia Blunt, who
warms his heart as a proud father. His professionalism precedes him as someone who is
dedicated to perfecting his craft of music that eloquently graces, uplifts, and soothes a
broken down spirit. Bro. Blunt is the epitome of a warrior on the battlefield as illustrated
by his love for music and affiliation as the Choir Director for the Seasoned Choir of NORDC
and longevity of forty years performing as an Organist and Director of several Baptist
Churches in the New Orleans area. Bro. Blunt aspire to teach sound fundamentals of music
to as many individuals or groups who desire to explore, expand, or enhance their musical
talents. Bro. Blunt is by no means an ordinary musician, but rather an extraordinary
musician who recognized his God given talent at the young age of six years old when he
began music lessons under the tutelage and influence of his musician mother. Thereafter,
he further enhanced his craft by matriculating in Southern University of New Orleans,
where he was conferred a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a dual major of instrumental and
vocal music education in 1994. Since then, he has exhibited his musical ability to breathe
life into songs and deliver lyrics with the intensity that brings the message to life. Bro.
Blunt’s musical career includes but not limited to having taught in the elementary and
secondary schools of New Orleans for fifteen years, played a Baritone Horn and Trumpet
with the concert and jazz bands, played the Jazz festival with SUNO Jazz Ensemble for many
years, and toured with the University Choir for several years. In addition, he has served as
musician and director for the Louisiana Home and Foreign Mission Baptist State Convention
Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress of Christian Workers for fourteen years.
He is a diverse talent that has and continues to perform with singers and instrumentalist at
