COMMUNICATION/TRAINING AND OCM-THE PERFECT BLEND
‘THE SECRET TO SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS’
Too many projects fail company expectations, although technology deployment succeeds.
Sadly, this is actually a company failure. How does this happen?
Deployed new platforms and/or business processes and workflows, must be understood by end-users
and adapted. End users need to connect the “new-ness” to their job functions or…the money and time
spent was truly wasted. Yet, we still use old training communication and OCM techniques, a week or
two before go-live dates to “prepare” the EU population….and retention percentages are extremely
low…it simply does not work well at all.
But, using an enhanced group of blended principles and techniques, and the “Tech Byte” vehicle,
retention percentages are increased 3-4 times on the day of go-live. Instead of pounding training and
‘what you need” into heads in four or eight hour sessions, a week or two before the launch day, the
‘Tech Byte” methodology, allows the end user a longer “digestion, assessment and connection
period”…so when the launch day arrives…the end-user is ready to go…..they “get-it”!
From an overview, Communication, Training and the OCM components are blended into focused easy to
understand and play and replay [on a phone, a Fablet or laptop] audio/video learning ‘tech bytes’ that
describe new ideas, demonstrates their validity and challenges the viewer. Developed in sequential
format, these blended videos are no longer than 3 minutes allow all three learning styles in be enabled,
and activate the mind to take ‘pictures’ and formulate connections to the End-User’s present job
requirements.
Simply, put, the customized technique allows the learner to leverage their mind creating indelible
content and impressions for future knowledge building and application and increased job efficiencies.
The results are stunning….. End-user testing performs exactly at the opposite end of the
spectrum…..from what has been acceptable….with 1 week or less ramp-ups....a 20x to 30x time
effective difference. Results that clearly demonstrate retention of details, processes and logical
arguments for the new platform changes. Results that the company needs for a company-wide
success…not just a successful IT deployment
