A remarkable case of Severe
Dehydration, prescription
was made on the basis of intuition
and observation
- 3. © Subrata
This was a case of
a Calcutta master,
Dr. Tarak Palit. A
patient was
admitted in the
Hospital from
extreme
dehydration with
features almost
nearing collapse
state from acute
and severe gastro-
enteritis. The body
was cold+++.

When Dr. Palit went
to see the patient,
he observed that
the patient was
trying to touch
different parts of
the body. When
asked, he said the
feeling is of
burning in spots, as
if from sparks of
fire. Though the
body was cold, the
patient refused
covering.
- 7. © Subrata
He prescribed Secale Cor 200 and result was
astounding; in 12 hours patient improved
dramatically. Camphor too have collapse,
body cold; refuses covering but it does not
have sparks of fire and burning spots of
Secale.

This was a remarkable
case of a young
woman in her early
twenties working as
shop assistant in a
duty free perfume
shop in a London
Airport. Her job
requires her to stand
on her feet during the
entire period and
show customers
different perfumes in
one of the world’s
busiest airport.

She developed fibromyalgia; sore and tender
feet from standing a long time. She had been
to other homoeopaths who have tried Rhus
Tox, Causticum and Arnica. without any
appreciable change.
- 15. © Subrata
I prescribed
Squilla 30 which
has exactly this
symptom
mentioned in the
Boericke’s
Materia Medica.
The patient got
better within
three months.

Once again, it would have been impossible to identify
the medicine from the Repertory; the knowledge of
Materia Medica is important to understand the
qualities and essence of the medicine. Materia Medica
is the language and Repertory is the dictionary; we
have to know the language first and it is the qualitative
totality that counts and not the quantitative totality!
