If the iconic Statue of Liberty is the symbol of New York’s promise of
fulfilling the American Dream, one can argue that Central Park is the
heart at the core of the Big Apple. Here are some fun facts about
this most-visited park that you might not know about.

Covering around 3.5 square miles and stretching across 843 acres
amid Manhattan Island, Central Park is bigger than some countries
in the world. It’s bigger than the Vatican City and almost six times
larger than Monaco.
Secondly, even though park officials insist that there are no
permanent residents in Central Park, a U.S. 2010 census cited that
25 people actually claim that the park is their home.
Art-wise, there is a total of 29 unique sculptures that can be found
around the area, most of which have been donated privately. The
most popular ones are that of Alice and Wonderland, the sled dog,
and Duke Ellington. There are also sculptures of a lot of famous
authors and poets located in the Literary Walk.
It took quite some work to construct Central Park. Gunpowder was
used to blast the area’s solid bedrock and create the park’s many

Gettysburg.
Finally, and in keeping with the times, Central Park can now be
navigated through its own centralized app. There are 40 celebrity
voices featured in it to cover most interests and ensure that visitors
won’t get lost.
