It is a long-term pattern of weather in a particular area. Weather can be day to day, month
to month, year to year. A region’s weather pattern tracked for over 30 years is called a climate.
• Climate Change
Climate change is the single biggest health threat facing humanity, and health
professionals worldwide are already responding to the health harms caused by this unfolding crisis.
Key Points:
• Climate change affects the social and environmental determinants of health – clean
air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter.
• Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250 000
additional deaths per year, from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and heat stress.

• Implication of Climate on Pakistan and its economy
Pakistan has endured an economic loss of $4 billion and more than
10,000 lives due to climatic hazards. According to a study, Pakistan
has some of the highest disaster risk levels in the world and is ranked
18 out of 191 countries by the 2020 Inform Risk Index.
• Displacement of Population and resource scarcity
Climate change is likely to cause widespread displacement of
Pakistanis. The country is poorly equipped to handle relocation to large
cities, which has implications for Pakistan’s national security. Climate
change will also fuel conflict over scarce resources, threatening
Pakistan’s national security.

While the gap between this rhetoric and that of Pakistan’s formal climate
diplomats should not be surprising, it could also reflect the necessity of more
reciprocal North-South cooperation in climate change and especially climate
finance.

the root problem democracies like Pakistan face in climate resilience is
not in the inherent inefficiency of democratic institutions, but in how those
institutions are constrained by the decisions of policymakers and regulators in
the Global North.

a technical level, its ability to choose is severely constricted by the dominant
international economic architecture. Where green developmental agencies and
major government interventions into economic life are the cornerstones of

Inflation Reduction Act, the prevailing international finance regime limits
states in the Global South to the role of “de-riskers” of investments from
international private capital.

nation from all types of threat.

Climate change has affected many military operations whether it may be
through war fighting or humanitarian operation. For example, heavy flooding
in areas where militaries are fighting can affect the food supply for the
military personnels.

Climate change can impact military strategy by increasing destabilizing
conditions in strategically significant regions.

• Severe Flooding
The extreme floods in 2010 left Pakistan with destroyed hundreds of lands and to
help fix the disaster the cost increased to billions of USD.
• Increase in Sea levels
The often increase in sea levels will cause the shrinking of Indus Delta and the
increase in costal belt erosion will start. Which will impact the naval installation
regions of Pakistan.
• Warming Patterns
The increase in temperatures has been from 1961 and continues till this day as put a
strain on military air force as jets cannot handle too high temperatures.
• Conclusion
In Pakistan, threats from climate change can impact naval assets and infrastructure
through sea level rise. Furthermore, threats from warming patterns that cause glacial
melting impact troop movement.

proposed results that accompanied recent sweats have emphasized broader

failure. Climate change can lead to changes in downfall patterns, famines, and
other extreme rainfall events that can make it harder for some corridors of the
world to pierce water and food.

atmosphere. Greenhouse feasts are essential for mortal, beast, and factory life but
the quantum that we've on earth is negatively affecting our climate.

Natural factors within the earth’s climate system have brought many changes.
Changes to worlds ringing around the sun can bring a large change to the earth’s
climate system.

Over population in the world and they're connected in complex ways. Utmost
obviously, population growth worsens climate change- further people on the earth
means further carbon dioxide emigrations.
• Trouble to the Global Food Supply
In recent times, food security has become one of the most uttering problems
that the world faces. The population explosion and climate change had been caused
by food security.

Changes in climate can alter the distribution and transmission of conditions,
making it harder for healthcare systems to keep up. This can lead to increased
illness and death, which can weaken husbandry and destabilize societies.

Climate change can affect world security through increased natural disasters. As
climate change leads to further extreme rainfall events like hurricanes, typhoons
etc.

associations, and individuals must work together to address the causes and goods
of climate change to make a more secure, sustainable future for all.

13. SOME SUGGESTIONS AND
SOLUTIONS
• Solutions
Build dams in Thar to store rainwater. Let me also stress here how important local consultation is. During our
travels, we came across a dam in Neuarpurr being used as a cricket pitch because the government did not consult
people and disregarded their knowledge of where to best build it.
Devise and implement a waste management strategy for mountainous areas. Since mountain communities have
nowhere to dispose of their waste, they end up either throwing it in the rivers, burning the waste in open air.
Switch to renewable energy sources. We have massive potential for solar energy in Thar and hydropower in the
north which can provide clean, cost-effective, and uninterrupted energy.
An international effort is being tried to encourage states to include and report in their national climate change
policy the target for reduction in military emissions. COP26 is the platform to initiate this effort. NATO’s recent
Climate Change and Security Action Plan that outlines methods to measure GHG emissions from military
activities and installations is an encouraging initiative and can be learned from.
