1. “A Night with
Ralph Nader ”
king concert hall
rockefeller arts center
For a self-described “public citizen,” Ralph Nader has
achieved a phenomenal level of national prominence.
Nader has devoted his life to giving ordinary people
the tools they need to defend themselves against
corporate negligence and government indifference.
First and foremost an advocate, Nader began his
extraordinary 30-year legacy with his battle against
the auto industry which resulted in life-saving motor
vehicle safety legislation.
Nader helped create the Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, the Environmental
Protection Agency, and the Consumer Product Safety
Commission. Among his victories are seat belts, air
bags, crash-worthy cars, better labeling on food, lower
levels of lead in the environment, smoking awareness,
and healthier eating habits.
Recently the subject of the critically acclaimed
documentary, An Unreasonable Man, he has also
written his introspective book, The Seventeen
Traditions about the earliest days of his own life,
where he revisits seventeen key traditions he absorbed
from his parents, his siblings, and the people in his
community, and draws from them inspiring lessons
for today’s society.
Join us for “A Night with Nader” in which he will
present a talk entitled, “Who is Eclipsing Solar Energy
and Energy Efficient Technologies and What Can We
Do About It?” as a preface to an engaged question and
answer period. The night will conclude with a book-
signing event to be held in the adjacent Art Gallery
Lobby. General admission tickets for this special event
are $15. A limited number of student tickets are
available at a reduced cost of $5.
