Accomplishments
 Published case study in Missouri Campus Compact publication Engaging with Our Neighbors: The Practice of
Town-Gown Relations in Missouri.
 In 2002, I was selected to be the first director of the Rockhurst University Community Center and since then I
have achieved the goal of building and maintaining long-term community relationships and partnerships by
strategically marketing and publicizing the center and its initiatives.
 From 2011 to present, I have served as a member of the organizing committee for city-wide college fair, which
has become a national college fair in collaboration with the National Association for College Admission
Counselors.
 In partnership with my Donnelly counterpart, as an admission counselor I successfully proposed an articulation
agreement for a Provisional Acceptance Program between Rockhurst University and Donnelly College, which
both institutions’ presidents formally and publicly signed at a ceremony.
 I am a founding member and champion of Tulips on Troost, an initiative that began in 2007 to beautify the
avenue, to spur economic development, and to change the conversation about race and color in regards to Troost
Ave, which has gained momentum and popularity along the avenue and city-wide.
 I was the co-host and organizer for the campaign kick-off event for the successful campaign for prominent
candidate to gain a seat on the Kansas City, MO School Board in 2008.
 In partnership with Laurie Hines, I co-hosted and organized two city-wide Community Conversations on
Education (Feb 19 and April 7, 2008) in which the Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser and prominent school
board leaders attended and engaged the audience in discussion.

 Advise, direct and champion individual students or student groups taking the initiative to engage in community
service
 Advise President’s Cabinet on issues regarding the University’s neighbors and community
 Plan and execute on-going successful events and programs for the community center and community-based
programs for the university, including community chess club, university president’s special community events and
the RU College Bound program
 Manage community center capacity and enforce policies to accommodate spatial needs for more than 40 diverse
community organizations
 Lead and organize community Safe Trick-or-Treat program at the Community Center for approximately 500-800
guests (families with children age 12 and younger).
 Partner with Center for Service Learning to facilitate and coordinate a freshman orientation community service
event for more than 400-500 participating students and faculty/staff volunteers
 Initiate and coordinate regular, consistent contact with community members, leaders, schools and government
officials for community-related projects, board meetings and events to foster positive town-and-gown relations
and manage the community center facility and its events and programs
 Design and write Rockhurst Community, the internal newsletter for faculty and staff, and Rockhurst Neighbors, a
newsletter to inform the external community about Rockhurst news and events
 Implement policies and procedures and supervise students for the new community work study program based on
guidelines mandated by the Federal Work Study program and strategically form partnerships with youth-serving
non-profit organizations
Multicultural/International Student Recruiter, Rockhurst University: (June 1999 - January 2002)
 Oversee the admission team’s accomplishment of meeting a 20% matriculation goal of recruiting multicultural
students to the freshman class; case load of more than 150 prospects
 Successfully planned and developed events and activities such as a multicultural campus visit day and interview
days for Kansas City urban core high school families and counselors to learn about Rockhurst University
 Guided prospective students and their families through the admission and financial aid process by offering
individual consultation and group presentations
