Our office hours are Monday-Friday 0900-1800.
Remuneration: HoSB will pay minimum wage and cover a daily lunch allowance

Reporting to: The Art Curator
Line Report: Director of Culture
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Culture Team at The House of St Barnabas and
assist the Art Curator to continue growing the in-house contemporary art collection, (the
Collective), work on upcoming art related projects and learn what it is to curate and
manage a “gallery” space.
Duties include
• Assisting the Art Curator with the Collective section of the HoSB website ensuring
all content is up to date.
• Responsible for liaising with artists and galleries to ensure all relevant information
on the Collective is supplied in good time for press and marketing activities
• Assisting with artist and gallery agreements
• Ensuring all galleries and artists have completed signed agreements, supplied
images, press information and consignment notes
• Responsible for updating the art inventory
• Overseeing the installation and de-installation of an exhibition
• Wrapping and handling works whilst on-site at The House of St Barnabas
• Monitoring the loan and transportation of works to different locations
• Monitoring the conditions of the art storage space and updating the inventory
• Assisting on any art related events – talks and private views
• Responding to any sales enquiries regarding the collection
• Raising invoices for the Finance Team and assisting the Art Curator on sales of art
work
• Assist with the pre-production work for Art Social ‘15; the organisation’s festival of
art and culture taking place in September 2015

• An interest and knowledge in contemporary art
• A proactive nature and confident communicator
• Organised and efficient
• Interest and knowledge of the social enterprise sector

Background to our organisation
The House of St Barnabas is a charity and social enterprise, a not-for-profit members’
club, which provides training, support and employment opportunities to help people who
have experienced homelessness to rebuild their lives.
The House of St Barnabas operates an integrated Employment Academy, offering an
employment preparation programme and accredited training (City & Guilds), within its
not-for-profit private members' club. Both the Academy and the club are located at
1 Greek Street, Soho, which has been the home of the charity for over 150 years. This
integrated model allows its participants the opportunity to gain work experience within
the social business.
The work experience opportunities, together with onsite and external training, are
invaluable for the people going through the programme. To date over 80% of graduates
have moved into paid employment or further education.

inspiring environment that is home to a growing membership that is dedicated to social
change.
The Collective
The Collective is the art programme at the House of St. Barnabas which features both
established and emerging artists. Hosting temporary exhibitions in each of the rooms
which changes three times a year, collaborating with galleries such as White Cube,
Stephen Freidman Gallery and Spruth Magers. The permanent collection features
donated works from artists such as Tracey Emin, The Chapman Brothers and Yinka
Shonibare MBE as well as the rising starts of the contemporary art scene.
100% of the surplus from all art sales go directly to the charity.
