The document discusses a critical discourse analysis of the Pakistani drama "Meray HumNasheen". It analyzes the story of a girl named Hiba who wants to become a doctor and the role of media and society in her journey. The analysis uses Fairclough's three-dimensional model of critical discourse analysis to examine issues of gender discrimination and feminism as portrayed in the drama serial. It explores how women are typically depicted in Pakistani media and society, and the lack of equal rights and treatment they face. Research questions focus on understanding the reasons for the disrespect of women in society and lack of consideration for women's rights.

3. Introduction
The media is regarded as a social transformation agent. It has the ability to
almost hypnotise us all. In the West, women were marginalised in many
aspects of life prior to the rise of feminism
Women are depicted as dusting the house, sewing clothes, cooking and
nursing children in Urdu short story collections. Her husband is treated as
if he were a celestial be to whom she owes allegiance. The majority of the
stories depict women who are fashion-savvy and cognizant of their
appearance. They are unconcerned about serious issues, and matrimony is
usually their primary focus.
In other words, in Pakistani dramas, virtuous women are those who fulfill
their roles as mother, sister, and wife, but women who play deviant roles
are seen as wicked.
Women have no equal rights in most of Pakistani societies in this drama
serial
4. Discourse
Discourse is spoken or written communication between people, especially
serious discussion of a particular subject.
Conversation, talk, discussion, speech
Generalization of the notion of a conversation to any form of
communication.
The word discourse is derived from the latin prefix dis- meaning “away”
and the root word currere meaning “to run”. Discourse, therefore,
translates to “run away” and refers to the way that conversations flow. To
study discourse is to analyze the use of spoken or written language in a
social context.
Example:A dominant discourse of gender often positions women as gentle
and men as active heroes.
A dominant discourse of race often positions whiteness as the norm and
colored bodies as ‘others’.
5. Research Questions:
Q.01: What is the reason behind disrespect of women in society?
Q.02: What is the actual cause behind the people who don't care about women rights?
6. Literature review:
Kurzman (2002) said that women in society is a main component, but
in most countries there is no right no freedom as well as no
opportunity of job for females. Taken research topic also show
resemblance with Kurzman idea that women have no right in society
that is a problem.
Carroll, (1970) The Individual is Political Movement. As a result of
this huge and extraordinary movement, women's minds have changed
on a massive scale, and they have begun to question their place and
position in a society where they play no role in decision-making and
even their will is irrelevant. It was ridiculous. They questioned their
existence, even though they are part of reproduction. Discrimination
between men and women, the dominance of men in all aspects of life,
and the exploitation of women in all fields have been significant issues
raised by feminists (Whitson, 2004)
