1) A little Wysocki
2) A question
3) Workshop time
4) Thursday– and beyond!
5) Homework
Anne Wysocki tells us…

“Because we have all grown up in densely
           visually constructed environments, usually with
little overt instruction or awareness of how the
construction takes place, it is easy to think of
the visual elements of texts as simply happening
           or appearing…as though… television sitcoms
were the result of a camera crew following a
           typical family through their day.”
Here’s a movie teacher.
And a TV teacher.
And a movie Profes…

Wait a minute!
An actual professor.
TV young folk hanging out, as
you would on the quad with your
classmates.
College student on TV.
College student on TV.
Wysocki asks us…
Q: How are the
visual aspects of
texts tied to our
bodily experiences?
Workshop
1) Form groups of four
2) Choose an order
3) Display your work. Allow everyone to
   comment BEFORE you say anything
4) Discuss (the author can now speak, too)
5) Rotate
On Thursday…
We’re going to do some intense Photoshop
work.
I want to take a few minutes here in class to
ask again, though: what else would you like to
do this semester? If there are no requests, I
will update the readings based on my pre-
semester plan, but I’d love to have your input.
I want this to be your class, too.
For Thursday…
