Removal Procedure
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve - Remove and Install - C3.3B
Tier 4 Interim/Stage 3A
SMCS - 108N-010
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.
At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The
radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or
steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.
Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only
when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough
to touch with your bare hand.
Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the
hose can come off causing burns.
Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with
skin and eyes.
Note: Refer to Specification UENR0995 "Engine Design" for non-specified engine Torque Values.

11. NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool
Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
1.Drain coolant below exhaust gas recirculation valve level. Remove heat shield (1).

2.Disconnect hoses (2) and (3). Remove bolts (4).
Install exhaust gas recirculation valve (8) in the reverse order of removal.
a.Tighten the valve for hose (7) to a torque of 30.0 to 39.0 N·m (22.13 to 28.76 lb ft).
3.Disconnect hoses (6) and (7). Remove bolts (5) and remove exhaust gas recirculation valve (8)
and cooler assembly (9).

Removal Procedure
Muffler - Remove and Install
SMCS - 1062-010
Start By:
a.Remove radiator and hydraulic oil cooler.
Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-
face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or
Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal
injury.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing
maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to
cool.

26. 1.Remove exhaust pipe assembly (1) and nuts (2).
The muffler, catalytic converter/muffler, and diesel particulate filter will
become extremely hot during engine operation. A hot muffler, catalytic
converter/muffler and diesel particulate filter can cause serious burns.
Allow adequate cooling time before working on or near the muffler,
catalytic converter/muffler and diesel particulate filter.
2.Remove bolts (4).
3.Use suitable lifting device to remove the muffler (3). The weight of the muffler (3) is
approximately 32 kg (70 lb).

27. Installation Procedure
1. Install muffler (3) in the reverse order of removal.
a.Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 52 ± 3 N·m (38 ± 2 lb ft)
