were the non-governmental bodies active on the
ground.
In 2015 the Commission’s EU Health Award aims
to recognise and reward the achievements of
three of these non-governmental bodies which
distinguished themselves through their efforts
and commitments during the Ebola emergency.

2. The EU Health Award for NGOs fighting Ebola was designed to reward past engagement
and also to encourage the pursuit of their work within or outside EU borders.
International, European, national and regional non-governmental bodies legally registered
in the EU Member States, Iceland or Norway are eligible to apply for the EU Health Award.
The call for applications for the 2015 EU Health Award will focus on:
• Initiatives that benefitted the health of EU citizens and the EU health workforce (these can
include training, communication activities, preparedness and response…).
• Initiatives that worked towards the detection, control and/or elimination of the disease in
the emergency area that can serve to enhance EU preparedness and response.
The EU Health Award is funded under the 3rd Health Programme 2014-2020
