ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Web Search Engine – Python, Java, Amazon Web Services (EC2, Amazon S3)
Description: Created a search engine which scales even to today's web present many challenges. Fast crawling technology is
used to gather the web documents recursively. Advanced compression algorithms are used to minimize storage space.
Yelp Dataset Challenge (Seasonal Trend Analysis) – Java, Big Data (Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, Hive, Scala), AWS (EC2)
Description: Introduced a Natural Language Parsing (NLP) algorithm that mines sentiments expressed by our reviewers,
figuring out what business attributes (service quality, ambience, etc.) make a local business popular based on seasonality.
Real Time sentiment analysis on Twitter Data – Big Data (Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, Spark‐Mllib, Pig, Scala), Twitter API
Description: Created and implemented a Clustering algorithm on Twitter Data to find the public sentiment for an event, by
using Natural language processing on each tweet in twitter.
Supervised Learning through Decision Trees – R, Java
Description: Created a generative algorithm to find the class labels of an unknown data and then created a model from a
known data using the algorithm and finally implementing the model on the unknown data.
Optical Character Recognition – R, Java
Description: Developed an OCR software using various machine learning techniques (KNN, Random forest, Naive Bayes,
SVM etc.) to recognize hand written documents by analyzing the raw data and creating respective models w.r.t features.
Isolated Speech Recognition Analysis using MFCC and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) ‐ Matlab, R
Description: Speech Recognition by extracting features from speech signal of spoken words and these features are feed to
DTW (an algorithm), which is used for measuring similarity between two sequences, which may vary in time or speed.
Boat Charter Reservation Database System ‐ Oracle DB, SQL.
Description: Created an application which keeps track of member information (currently big excel spreadsheets are being
used in market). We also envisioned an online reservation system that users could go online and reserve a boat.
CERTIFICATIONS/STRENGTHS:
Certified in R programming – Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Computer Lab Assistant at UT Dallas. Jan 2016 — Sep 2016
EXTRA‐CURRICULAR ACTIVITES:
Participated in various coding/hacking marathons conducted by Microsoft, Google.
Active Volunteer of National Service Scheme and worked for Bachpan Bachao, a NGO aimed towards children welfare.
RELEVANT COURSEWORK: Machine learning, AI, Information Retrieval, Adv. Statistical methods for Data Scientists', Big Data.
