Application name: Virtual Tourist Guide
1. INTRODUCTION:
Bangladesh is not strong enough in information system. There is no sufficient
information source about the tourism industry. But tourism sector is very potential
sector in Bangladesh. Due to lack of information, tourist doesn’t get sufficient
information about tourist spot, communication system, hotel arrangement, safety
requirement etc. Our application will be information hub from where tourist will
get that information at hand. Initially, apps will content information about the most
attractive tourist spot in Bangladesh that is Cox’s bazaar. The apps will have
expansion opportunity so that it will be updated and expanded over time and
include all the tourist spot and information regarding traveling in Bangladesh.
Cox’s bazaar is the longest sea-beach in the world. Every year both local and
international tourist comes to enjoy natural beauty of this beach. But unfortunately
having a huge potentiality due to some mismanagement tourist fall in trouble even
loss their life. According a report published in Prothom-alo, at least 85 tourists died
in Cox’s bazaar & 15 in the Saint Martin in the last 12 years for various reasons.
But if they were able to get help during trouble, the number could be reduced
significantly. That’s why this apps.
2. OVERALL OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
1. Providing information about the tourism industry in Bangladesh.
2. Provide emergency help.
3. Make travel easier and safer.
4. Create cautiousness.
5. Attract more tourists by giving assurance of safety.
3. IDEA DESCRIPTION:
Virtual Tourist Guide will be database app from where tourist can get tourist spot
and related information in Bangladesh. It will act as tourist guide during visiting in
Bangladesh. Tourist will get the following information after installing this app in
their Smartphone.
1. Tourist spots in Bangladesh through Google map.
2. Address and Image of tourist spots.
3. Hotel arrangement.
4. Local Police Administration + Beach rescue teams + Local Hospital address,
cell number and direction (through Google map)
5. Airport, Local Bus terminal, Train terminal address, phone number, online ticket
booking and direction.
6. Danger Areas in Sea-beach. (On the basis of last 10 years statics of accident)
7. Tidal times. (As most tourists don’t aware about it)
8. Weather information.
4. TARGET POPULATION (TARGET USERS):
Both Local and foreigner tourist.
5. TECHNICAL ASPECTS ELABORATION:
“C” programming will be used to develop this Virtual Tourist Guide app.
6. BUSINESS DIMENSION:
Value proposition: To the tourist our “Virtual Tourist Guide” will meet their
information need by acting as information hub.
During the last five years (2006-2010) Bangladesh received a total number of
15, 29,000 visitors and earned US$ 413.00 million. (Source: The daily star, March
19, 2013)That means over 0.3 million foreign visitors visit in Bangladesh.
We expect that 0.1 million foreign tourist will install this apps. If we charge $1 for
this app, then we will get $100000 revenue each year.
We also expect that 0.1 million Bangladeshi tourist will use this app. So, if we
charge Tk50, we will get Tk 5000000 each year.
Overall, expected revenue is Tk 13000000 per year.
To develop this app following cost will be required:
Data collection cost: Tk 20000
Application development cost: Tk 10000
Copy right and registration: Tk 10000
Marketing cost: Tk 20000
Total cost: Tk 60000
7. IMPLICATION IN OVERALL SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:
Virtual Tourist Guide will gives vital information about travelling tourist spots in
Bangladesh, so it will help tourist to feel safe and comfortable. As a result more
tourists will be attracted to visit Bangladesh which helps to develop tourism
industry. So more foreign currency will be earned and more employment
opportunities will be generated.
8. BENEFITS:
Local and foreign tourist will get complete information about travelling in tourist
spot in Bangladesh which make their tour more enjoyable.
9. LIMITATIONS OR CHALLENGES:
1. All tourist don’t use Smartphone. So they will not able to use this app.
2. Some features of this app will not function able without internet connection.

11. CONCLUSION:
Virtual Tourist Guide will help to reduce travelling risk of tourist. It will also
attract more tourists by providing information about attractive tourist spots. It will
not require much cost to develop but will be very useful tool for traveling in
beautiful place in Bangladesh.
