Executive Summary
This project is made to suit real-time software projects management system, that includes
various projects assigned to clients and the personnel working on each project. This software
system allows for easy project management and tracking activities in those projects. An
administrator has the overall control of this system that allows him to create and remove
projects as per the requirement, allocate managers for those projects and also allocate the
specified employee to work on those projects plus be able to track the project progress. It is
an effective software system to help manage these activities in a competitive environment.

4. 1. Project Overview
In present scenario Engineering Institutes works on multiple student projects simultaneously
so there is need to manage all these projects efficiently in term of student management,
topic allocation and project design. Project Management system from the first
announcement to the last submission, are managed through this web-based application.
The Project Management System is a database system that extensively revolves around the
projects of students. This is specially so since the Management System has been developed
with keeping in mind the academic college institution. If situation asks, the Management
System can be reverse engineered and developed for corporate environments as well.
2. Obstacles
The working of the guide, the group leader and the rest of the team must happen in a
healthy and co-operating manner, all the while being away from each other. The problem to
be solved is the remote connection between the HOD, Project Co-ordinator, guide and the
student team on a digital platform, or it can be said even virtually.
5. 3. Technical Obstacles
The project is intended for the Local Area Network implementation and the architecture of
the software bears witness to that. But if we tweak the architecture and make it available on
the World Wide Web, then the guide can contact with the student leader or vice versa even if
either of them are in a far off place or even if they are in another country! This is a major
problem to solved viz. how to enable the remote access between HOD, PCO, guides and the
students.
4. Industry and Market Risks
The software is inclusive of four special designated logins, each of them performing thier
own special and dignified role. They include HOD Login, Guide Login, Project Co-ordinator
Login and last but not the least, the Student Group Leader Login. All these logins collectively
work in the software as a social unit and are responsible for the smooth process of the
Project Management procedure. Through the above mentioned roles, some of the major
functions that can be performed, but not limited to them, are registering guides, student
team formation, idea submission and assignment, etc.
It is very clear from the brief overview that this project management system is must in
academic institutions that require modern project management techniques in their arsenal.
6. 5. Budgetary Risks
It should be clear that, a cost estimate of a project approximates a project’s probable cost.
Cost estimates are prepared at concept stage, refines throughout the project development
process, and updated during implementation.
Without an accurate project estimate, projects waste money that should have had been used
in a more professional manner. By us understanding how much our project will cost by
learning from history and from similar projects and experience, our estimation hits the target.
