18. New information as of 2021….None of the high
school students’ names are known to me
except for these two. I recently found this
contact sheet in this glassine envelope with
their names, written in a hand-writing that is
different from the names and phone numbers
on the slip of paper inserted in the envelope.
None of this hand-writing is mine and I don’t
recall getting this information but it’s likely to
identify these two students.
39. Makeda, for reference: Curator Gary VanZante has asked if these seventeen
4x5-inch Polaroid photographs from the CRLS project could be included
in the April 2022 exhibition at the new MIT Museum in Cambridge.
40. These portraits were made in the hallways and classrooms of
Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. I made these photographs
for my final project at M.I.T. where I received a Master of Science
in Visual Studies degree in 1982 from the Creative Photography
Laboratory. I used a wooden View Camera and 4x5-inch black-and
white sheet film, both Polaroid and conventional. The
photographic prints were also made at that time. There is only one
complete set, acquired by curator Makeda Best at the Harvard Art
Museums in 2019. Many of the images were printed twice,
however, and occasionally several prints were made.
The actual photographs were placed in acid-free storage boxes in
1982 and were only opened in 2018. Please note that the prints
have never been professionally scanned, and all of the jpgs in this
Powerpoint were made with my iPhone.

I used a wooden View Camera and 4x5-inch black-and white sheet film, both Polaroid and conventional. The photographic prints were also made at that time. There is only one complete set of 16x20-inch enlargements, acquired by curator Makeda Best at the Harvard Art Museums in 2019. Many of the images were printed twice, however, and occasionally several prints were made.
The 4x5-inch Polaroid prints were made when I used Polaroid Type 55 Positive / Negative film. Not many of these were enlarged.
