Achievements
• Secured All India Rank 276 in IITJEE-2012 among 4.5 lakh students.
• Ranked 1st at ACM-ICPC’16 Asia Kolkata Regional Onsite out of around 600 teams.
• Goldman Sach’s GSQuantify, 2015 campus winner.
• Awarded Best Student (Academics) Award 2012 by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro.
• Qualified for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) in 2010 and in 2011.
• Awarded KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna) Fellowship in 2010.
Internship • Facebook Inc, Menlo Park, California
Open Source Development of Apache HBase May 2015 - July 2015
• Implemented an automated heap memory tuner which dynamically tweaks the heap memory distri-
bution depending on the workload.
• Tested it on large scale cluster for various workloads using Yahoo Cloud Services Benchmark(YCSB).
Testing showed substantial improvement in latency and throughput for most of the workloads.
SEV manager data mining May 2015 - July 2015
• Data analysis of Facebook’s internal crisis management tool(SEV manager).
• Analyzed the data for several trends, pattern and correlations associated with it.
• Extracted few actionable feedback from the results that may help Facebook to improve reliability of
its products.
Projects and
Developments
• [Data Mining and Distributed Systems] Distributed Graph Algorithms
Undergraduate Project in Distributed Systems under Dr. Arnab Bhattacharya Aug 2015 - ongoing
Designed and implemented a generalized distributed architecture which can solve a typical set of prob-
lems. Used this architecture to solve various problems like computing all connected subgraphs of a given
graph, all maximal cliques in a graph etc.
• [Functional Programming] AriaDB: A key-value data store in Haskell
Course Project in Functional Programming under Dr. Piyush P. Kurur Sept - Nov 2015
Implemented a key-value store for Haskell data types. The store can be used as a service which can be
put on a cloud and shared by many, easily. Provided a RESTful API to use the service.
• [Artificial Intelligence] Plankton Classification
Course Project in Artificial Intelligence under Dr. Amitabha Mukerjee Feb - April 2015
Classified plankton images into 120 classes using Convolutional Neural Networks. Boosted accuracy
using dropouts and maxout on conventional CNN’s. Used GPU (AWS Infrastructure) to train the
network.
• [Compilers] Compiler for Python
Course Project in Compiler Design under Dr. Subhajit Roy Jan - Apr 2015
An end-to-end compiler for Python in the MIPS architecture with support for loops, recursions, nested
functions and type inference implemented in Python.
• [Operating Systems] NachOS
Course Project in Operating Systems under Dr. Mainak Chaudhari Aug - Nov 2014
Extended the standard system call library of NachOS; implemented process scheduling algorithms such as
UNIX scheduling, Round Robin, Shortest Job First and Non Pre-emptive; implemented page replacement
algorithms such as Random Page Allocation, FIFO, LRU and LRU Clock.
Programming
Contest
Achievements
• Qualified for ACM ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) Amritapuri Regionals 2013,
2014 and 2015 securing rank 44, 48 and 13 repectively among more than 1500 participating teams.
• Candidate Master on Codeforces with maximum rating rating of 1977.
• Ranked 49th on Codechef among 25,000 active Indian users in short contests.
• Blue on Topcoder with maximum rating rating of 1456.
• Ranked among top 1000 on Spoj.
• Secured Rank 4 ,Rank 5 and Rank 15 among Indian participants in Codechef’s May, July and
January long challenges respectively.
• Secured Rank 6 and Rank 5 among Indian participants in Codechef’s June and July short contests.
• Secured Rank 7 among Indian participants in Round 2 of Google Code Jam 2014.
• Advanced to Round 2 of Facbook Hackercup 2013 and 2014.
• Winner of Weekend Programming Contest 4(IIT Kanpur internal programming contest).
