• 7 I will recount the gracious deeds of the LORD,
the praiseworthy acts of the LORD,
because of all that the LORD has done for us,
and the great favor to the house of Israel
that he has shown them according to his mercy,
according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
8 For he said, “Surely they are my people,
children who will not deal falsely”;
and he became their savior
9 in all their distress.
It was no messenger or angel
but his presence that saved them;
in his love and in his pity he redeemed them;
he lifted them up and carried them all the days of
old.

and grieved his holy spirit;
therefore he became their enemy;
he himself fought against them.
11 Then they remembered the days of old,

10എെോൽ അവർ മത്സരിച്ച് അവന്യെ
പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിയെ ദുുഃഖിെിച്ചു; അതുലകോെ് അവൻ
അവർക്കു ശപ്തുവോയിെീർെു തോൻ തലെ അവഹരോടു
യുദ്ധും ലചയ്കതു.
11അഹെോൾ അവന്ലെ ജനും ഹമോലശയുലട കോെമോയ
ുരോതനകോെും ഓർെു െഞ്ഞതു: അവലര തന്ലെ
ആടുകളുലട ഇടയഹനോടുകൂലട രമുപ്ദെിൽനിെു

are “Yod”, “He”, “Waw” and “He”
• This is represented as “YHWH” and
pronounced as “yeh-ho-vaw”.

• In Hebrew, “the God” is represented as ִ֑‫ֹלה‬ֱ‫א‬‫ים‬ (Elohim) or ָ֔‫ֹלה‬ֱ‫א‬‫י‬ (Eloah), means “divine
being”.
• Elohim is plural and Eloah is singular. Even though Elohim is plural, when it is used as noun it
will be considered as majestic title.
• Elohim (God) is the Title for the divine being and Yahweh (the LORD) is the personal name of
Israel’s Elohim (God).

Then Moses stretched out his hand over
the sea. The LORD drove the sea back by
a strong east wind all night, and turned
the sea into dry land; and the waters
were divided.

Now there is a confusion.
• As per Isaiah 63:12 says the Second Person (Glorious arm) is with
Moses to divide the see. But in Exodus 14:21, the “The LORD” is with
Moses to do the miracle.
• So, will “The LORD” is used for Second person also?
• The representation of “The LORD” is complex. Just assume “The
LORD” will be used by Second person also.

Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock
beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the
mountain of God. 2 There the angel of
the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out
of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing,
yet it was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, “I
must turn aside and look at this great sight, and
see why the bush is not burned up.” 4 When
the LORD saw that he had turned aside to see,
God called to him out of the bush, “Moses,
Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then he said,
“Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your
feet, for the place on which you are standing is
holy ground.” 6 He said further, “I am the God of
your father, the God of Abraham, the God of
Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his
face, for he was afraid to look at God.
7 Then the LORD said, “I have observed the
misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have
heard their cry on account of their taskmasters.

Now we have two open questions;
• “The LORD” is the name for the first person as per Isaiah 63:7-12. But, “The
LORD” is used for Second person also? െഹ ാവ എന്ന ൊമം
രണ്ടാമയത്ത് വൃക്തിതവത്ത്ിെും
ഉപഹൊഗിക്കാഹമാ?
• The “the angel of the LORD” is saying that he is the LORD. Then, who is “the
angel of the LORD” in Trinity? െഹ ാവെുയെ ൈൂതൻ
പെെുന്നു താൻ െഹ ാവ ആകുന്നു. ആരാണ
ഈ െഹ ാവെുയെ ൈൂതൻ ?

• 20 I am going to send an angel in front
of you, to guard you on the way and to
bring you to the place that I have
prepared. 21 Be attentive to him and
listen to his voice; do not rebel against
him, for he will not pardon your
transgression; for my name is in him.
• 22 But if you listen attentively to his
voice and do all that I say, then I will be
an enemy to your enemies and a foe to
your foes.
• 23 When my angel goes in front of you,
and brings you to the Amorites, the
Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites,
the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I
blot them out,

19 The angel of God who was going
before the Israelite army moved and
went behind them; and the pillar of
cloud moved from in front of them and
took its place behind them.
20 It came between the army of Egypt
and the army of Israel. And so the cloud
was there with the darkness, and it lit up
the night; one did not come near the
other all night.

• “The LORD” is the name for the first person as per Isaiah 63:7-12. But, “The LORD” is used for

As per Exodus 23:20-23, “The LORD” is for first person
alone. But that name is in the special angel also. യഹ ോവ

• The “the angel of the LORD” is saying that he is the LORD. Then, who is “the angel of the LORD” in

ആകുന്നു. ആരാണ ഈ െഹ ാവെുയെ ൈൂതൻ ?
As per Exodus 23:20-23 “the angel of the LORD” is same as
LORD since “he will not pardon your transgression. Also he is not
first person, that might be second or third person”.

But there are number of instances that the LORD is talking to human in face to face.
• Appearance to Abraham like a human (Genesis 18)
• Jacob Wrestles with God (Genesis 32)
• Solomon (1 Kings 3) are few of them.
• Exodus 33:11 “Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a
friend. Then he would return to the camp; but his young assistant, Joshua son of Nun,
would not leave the tent.” “ഒരുെൻ തന്ലെ സ്ഹന ിതഹനോടു
രുംരോരിക്കുെതുഹ ോലെ യഹ ോവ ഹമോലശഹയോട്
അഭിമുഖമോയി രുംരോരിച്ചു.”

11 Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face
to face, as one speaks to a friend.

18 Moses said, “Show me your glory, I
pray.” 19 And he said, “I will make all my
goodness pass before you, and will proclaim
before you the name, ‘The LORD’; and I will
be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and
will show mercy on whom I will show
mercy. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my
face; for no one shall see me and
live.” 21 And the LORD continued, “See, there
is a place by me where you shall stand on
the rock; 22 and while my glory passes by I
will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will
cover you with my hand until I have passed
by; 23 then I will take away my hand, and you
shall see my back; but my face shall not be
seen.”

എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവഹനോടു ഞോൻ കൃ ലചയ്യുും;
കരുണ കോണിെോൻ എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവന് ഞോൻ
കരുണ കോണിക്കുും എെരുളിലച്ചയ്കതു. 20നിനക്ക്

• Another incident is from the life of Gideon. Gideon had a face to face talk
with the LORD. Once he realized that he is talking to the LORD, he is had the
death fear.
• Then Gideon perceived that it was the angel of the LORD; and Gideon said, "Help
me, Lord GOD! For I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face." But the LORD
said to him, "Peace be to you; do not fear, you shall not die" (Judges 6:22).

• Here, the LORD says you shall not die.
• John 14:9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and
you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How
can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? “എയന്ന കണ്ടവൻ പിതാവിയെ

Whenever human had an appearance of God in face to face, the LORD is in
human form and most of the times the representation is interchanged with
“the angel of the LORD”.
