2. What is an Auteur?
• An auteur is someone who is a creator and an artist,
who also may be a director who keeps certain control
over their own person synergetic imagery used in
multiple films. The imagery can be anything from
themes to colours and different types of lighting. The
auteur theory was founded in 1951 and "auteur" is the
french word for author which means that an auteur is
famous someone who reflects the directors visions and
creativity.“A true film auteur is someone who brings
something genuinely personal to his subject instead of
producing a tasteful, accurate but lifeless rendering of
the original material.”
