1. Global Oral Health Foundation Society, A Brief
Synopsis:
My Social Venture “Global Oral Health Foundation Society” is with
a mission to provide for “Oral Healthcare for all”. My social
venture truly espouses the human values which underlines the
Project must be of the people, for the people and by the people. It
should cut across caste, creed and color and be in harmony with
the human race.
The Cause of undertaking Oral Health Reforms for the poor
and the underprivileged living in the rural areas is to provide for
the oral health and well being of all the people irrespective of
cultural or religious diversity. Through this Project I, Dr. Amit Saini
a Dental Surgeon as an individual have become responsible in
my actions having an effect on communities outside my circle.
I have seen from close quarters while working as a Consultant
and Head In-Charge of the Dental Department with a Charitable
Hospital in the rural sector, the day to day hardships borne by the
poor people in receiving quality dental care treatment.
In Rural India, access to Oral Health services is limited.
This manifests in the teeth being often left untreated or are
thus extracted because of pain and discomfort. There also
seems to be a general lack of awareness about oral health in
general among people living in the rural areas. The majority

2. of the people were aware of neither factors that could cause
oral health problems nor any preventative measures that could
be taken to prevent oral health issues.
In Rural India, the dentist to population ratio is as high as 1
Dentist for every 250,000 residents wheras in Urban India the
ratio is I Dentist per 10,000 population. This vast striking
imbalance seen of the Dental Professionals not working in the
rural areas acts as a major barrier for the rural people to access
quality dental care.
My Project aims to start a fully functional Dental Clinic in the
village and connecting it with other 25 surrounding villages
thereby covering at least 25 villages where the poor and the
underprivileged can get quality dental treatment under the
supervision of Dental Doctor and supporting staff at highly
subsidized costs to them. Also the middle class living in these
villages and its vicinity will be able to receive dental treatment on
cost to cost basis. Thus the middle class will to a great extent
cross subsidize the highly subsidized dental treatment charges to
the poor & the marginalized sections of society.
I have due this journey of mine contacted numerous
International NGO’s and National NGO’s and Philanthropic
Individuals for their support to funding of this Project. Also, this
project has been shared by Head’s of Organizations /
Foundations and CSR- Head’s of Companies for its wider
reach.

3. Till date the NGO has held 21 Free Dental Check up Camps in
and around the villages in Distt: SBS Nagar and is committed to
hold Dental Camps every Sunday, till the Project is realized. The
main motive of these camps is to create Oral Health Awareness
among the villagers. In these Camps, Toothpastes are dispensed
to all and Medicines to the needy. Also the patients needing
further treatment are referred to my Clinic where they were
heavily subsidized for their Dental Treatment Costs.
Also I have spread the NGO Chapters far and wide. Till date there
are 3 Dental Professionals spread across various states in India
who are collaborating with the NGO. There is Dr Ayoob Khan
from Kerala, Dr Nishtha Saini from Delhi, Dr Akshay Daga from
Maharashtra who are trying to spread the aims & objectives of the
NGO in their respective states.
The Project was awarded the Karmaveer Chakra, 2012 by
International Confederation of NGO’s during the REX Conclave
held in Delhi in 2012 in association with UN.
Also the Project was selected by “Spark the Rise” of
Mahindra Group in the 3rd
round in the IDEA Category under
Social Entrepreneurship titled “Oral Healthcare can’t wait” in
2012. The Project received 609 Votes. Due to lack of marketing
by myself and lack of awareness by the people, the Project lost
out on a cash award of 2,00,000 INR which otherwise would have
been an important Seed Capital for the NGO to start the Project.
Thus to give wings to my Project, I got the Project registered
as an NGO on the 1st
Jan 2013 under the Societies Act. I also got
the Pan Card along with the Bank Account of the NGO made.
The NGO was also selected by the Judges Panel of IIT, Roorkee,
for their Renaissance Event 2013 in March in their selected 20
Social Entrepreneurs of which this NGO was one of those
selected.

4. Lately the NGO’s Head had been invited to speak on the topic on
Rural Dental Care at the IIT, BHU – Varanasi Campus on the 18th
July 2016 by the Deshpande Foundation for their Sandbox
Samvidha Event.
Recently the Project has been selected by the GoodFestival team
to pitch for the Dental Project among the Innovators and Funders
from across the World at Lausanne, Switzerland in April 2017
from 18-22 April. I look forward to be going there and sharing the
stage with other like minded Organizations working for the welfare
of Humanity.
I am also sharing with you the Consolidated Statistics of the First
20 Dental Camps conducted by the NGO along with the Results .
In this, I was helped by a Technology Partner. The Technology
partner is helping the Foundation record, track and manage the
patient visits to bring accountability and transparency in the
operations.

In the end , I would say that however long it takes for the people
to associate with this Project and support the NGO in its mission, I
promise to raise awareness about the Cause and keep the Flame
Burning.
