Temporary residence permits valid for 1 year are available for third country nationals in Cyprus. After residing in Cyprus for 5 continuous years without being absent for more than 90 days at a time, a permanent residence permit can be obtained. Citizenship can then be applied for after 7 years of residence. To qualify for a temporary residence permit, applicants must rent or purchase real estate and show proof of sufficient funds to support themselves and any dependents without working. Required documents include rental/purchase agreements, bank statements, passports, certificates, and medical insurance. The initial residence permit is for 1 year but can easily be extended.
