To understand if the black bottle heats up the
water inside faster or the clear glass bottle heats
the water faster.

4. Hypothesis
I think the black bottle will heat the water faster than
the clear glass one because the black glass absorbs
the heat sun’s energy faster.

 Two sheets of black paper

6. Procedure
1. First, tape two sheets of black paper on one of the
glass bottle.
2. Then, put two teabags inside each bottle.
3. After, fill cold water in each bottle.
4. Put the bottles on the sunny windowsill for at least
six hours.
5. Test the temperature of the water every two hours
to see which bottle heats up quickest.
6. Watch the water turn brown as the tea brews.

I saw that the sun’s energy shines in the bottles and I took the
thermometer to see which bottle heats up faster. I saw the tea inside
the black bottle turn brown first and the temperature is going higher
and faster. The clear glass bottle turn brown slower and the temperature
is going slower and lesser. The clear glass bottle temperature is too low
so the thermometer did not show me the temperature. The black bottle
temperature was 103 farenheit.

10. Conclusion
In this experiment, I have learnt that the black
bottle heats up the quickest because the black
bottle absorbs the sun’s energy quickest so I can see
that the tea brews faster.

11. Big Idea
After this experiment, I know that the black
bottle heat up faster and the clear glass bottle heat
up slower.
In our life, when it was summer it was very hot
and we should wear lighter color clothes so we won’t
be that hot and we can heat up slower. But if we
wear darker color clothes in summer we will heat up
faster so we might be hotter than other people. But in
winter, it was cold so we can wear darker color
clothes and we can keep our body warmer. If you
wear light color clothes in winter, it might be colder
than wearing dark color clothes.
