    • Hieroglyphics
      • Ancient Egyptian writing uses more than 2,000 characters.
      • Each hieroglyph depicts a common object in ancient Egypt.
      • Hieroglyphs could be used to represent the sound or they could represent an idea associated with the object.
      • Hieroglyphs could be written left to right but were more commonly written right to left.
      • Hieroglyphs were like picture puzzles.

    • Pyramids
      • Built from about 2700 to 2500 B.C.
      • The Egyptian Pyramids are the oldest and the only surviving landmark of the ancient wonders of the world.
      • The largest and the first pyramid built was erected for the Pharaoh Khufu. Known as the Great Pyramid, it is about 450 feet (and lost about 30 feet) and covers 13 acres.
      • It is believed to have taken 100,000 laborers 20 years to build the Khufu pyramid, using an around 2.3 million blocks.
      • Many scholars believe that the shape of the pyramids were to symbolizes the slanting rays of the sun
