2. When I began this class, I
was practically a dummy
when it came to using a
computer
3. In College , I took an
elementary education
degree, but all we had
back then were
typewriters.
4. And for almost the last decade,
I’ve taken a career that had
mostly to do with cosmetics
and fragrances – as a
supervisor for a high-end brand

8. About a year ago,
I decided to shift back
to classroom teaching.
9. My youngest,
Gwindaleen, is in
kindergarten. My second
child, George, is in sixth
grade and my oldest, Thomas
Jon, is in sophomore in high
school. I want them to have a
better learning environment
at home. I also wanted a career
beyond cosmetics.
14. At first, I had a
hard time because I
had no formal
computer training
before .
15. During the first
day of class, I
cried out of
frustration that I
knew almost
nothing about
computers. There
were countless
nights I thought
of dropping the
class. But I did
not want to give
16. I turned my frustration into a
challenge. I spent countless
hours staying way past
midnight, and at times until
morning, getting myself
familiar with the computer.
18. These days, while I am not an expert in
using computer technology for the
classroom, I can also humbly say that I
have learned a lot.
19. When I
finally become
ready for
classroom
teaching, I can
teach and
prepare lesson
plans that will
use technology
to enhance
students’
learning.
20. This class has made me want
to learn more advanced
computer lessons to help me
be more prepared to be a
Guam school teacher.
21. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank all of you my teacher and
classmates for allowing me to be part of
this class.
And to some of you who showed
concern and support, I will not forget your
kindness.
