3. MY DAILY RICE
In Hongkong, we have a common dish called Dim Sum. This
is the Cantonese term for a type of Chinese dish that involves
small individual portions of food. For the people who know
this, will probably know the big-spinning-table with different
kind of small food on it as well. My world is just like this spin-
ning table. It’s constantly spinning, not waiting for me to pick
things I like. Before I know it there’s nothing left. So eat or be
eaten! I grew up eating everything (and fast!) and trying every-
thing in music, arts, sports, films, clothing etc.
I eventually became an allrounder.
Because I am a Dutch born Asian, I was not appreciated by
my parents due to my limited eating behavior in comparison
with my brothers and sisters. I always thought that I grew up
with eating weird things such as dog tongues and catliver. I
liked mashed potatoes more. But until today I know, I wouldn’t
be a creative if I didn’t try and just eat what I got on my plate. On the next slides there will be several dishes.
