Hip pain treatment in Coimbatore
1. HIP PAIN TREATMENT
The hip joint is fairly robust. It is capable of withstanding a great degree of wear/tear. This
ball and socket joint fits and allows fluid motion.
However, as with all joints of the human body, this joint is also suitable to a high degree of
wear and tear. Our hospital specializes in hip pain treatment in coimbatore, we have done a
large number of hip replacements in the last 10 years of clinical operations
So let's look at the common causes of hip pain.
Arthritis:-
Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are exceedingly common causes of hip pain. Arthritis
leads to joint inflammation and cartilage breakdown. Pain usually gradually becomes worse
with increasing time.
Fracture of hip:-
With increasing age bones in the hip also become brittle and weak. Thus the risk of injury is
higher during breakage
Tendinitis:-
Tendons are nothing but thick tissue bands that anchor muscle to bone. If inflamed, these
can lead to irritation of the tendons
Strain:-
Repeated activities can also put a tremendous strain on the muscles, tendons and the
ligaments.
2. Avascular necrosis:-
This condition occurs when blood flow to the hip slows down and bone tissue starts dying
away. Hip fracture and hip dislocation are common causes of AVN's
Hip pain Symptoms:-
Depending on the condition that is causing hip pain, discomfort in the thighs may occur due
to
a. Pain in the thigh
b. Groin region
c. Buttocks
d. Externally and outside the hip joint
Hip pain treatment -
Hip pain treatments that can give some degree of pain relief include use of NSAIDS,
painkillers and application of ice to the area 15 mins a couple of times per day. Sometimes
physical therapy combined with stretching and rehabilitation will also work.
In some patients however, hip pain may be severe and may be not responsive to
corticosteroids. In these events, where conventional medical therapy and rest fail, a hip
replacement procedure could be attempted.
Swimming is an excellent low impact exercise for the hip joint. Regular swimming combined
with physical therapy can help drastically improve the range of motion.
