Dr Sai Bhaskhar Reddy,
founder and CEO of Geo-ecology
Energy Organisa-tion
(GEO), is involved in
environment, energy, climate
change and development aspects.
He says, “GEO Spirit Commune is
a space for self realisation and
freedom. Our actions have impact
on the harmony and well being of
nature.”
Dr Reddy has proposed the con-cept
of Geo-spirit Communes to
connect with nature and minimise
the use of natural resources to pro-tect
ecology, environment and hu-manity.
The Geo Spirit centres
would spread over 100 acres with
Geo Spirit
Communes
proposed to
connect man
with nature
only 10 per cent of land for human
habitation while 30 per cent land
would be earmarked for common
usage such as community kitchen,
community hall and common park-ing.
The communes would be Wi-
Fi enabled so that the residents
could work from any place.
The small habitats would reduce
the use of natural resources like
sand, metal and cement. They
would have a verandah, a living
room, a bedroom, a pantry and a
toilet.
The food needs would be met by
the community kitchens as it saves
time and energy of home-makers.
“The food cooked in a family
kitchen need not guarantee the
health of all. Whereas the meals
prepared in a joint family used to
meet the requirements of all.
Today, working women are unable
to provide wholesome food for
all,” said Dr Sai Reddy.
Referring to roads, Dr Reddy,
said, “We should do away with
concrete and tar roads as they fail
to recharge groundwater sources.
Natural pathways should be laid
and vehicles should be parked at a
common parking lot.”
“Those living in huge mansions
and flats find it hard to maintain
their premises and struggle to get
trusted drivers, gardeners and se-curity
personnel. The answer lies
in a commune as it will encourage
interaction with each other and
take part in activities such as cook-ing,
gardening, games, discussions
and festivals,” he added.
“Today man leads a lonely life
in an urban jungle. He or she does-n’t
communicate with their neigh-bours
and are cut off from the
society. The latest gadgets are fur-ther
shrinking their relations with
others and nature. May be the an-swer
lies in being human not
human being,” Dr Reddy ex-plained.
The XI Metropolis World Congress had spurred a debate on
the growth of urban centres. The unbridled growth of cities is
taking a toll on natural resources and on man’s relationship
with nature and society. City-based scientist Dr N Sai Bhaskar
Reddy has proposed Geo-Spirit Communes to enable citizens
connect with nature and strengthen their bonds with other
members in the community.
