2. Security cameras are beneficial for any size of
business, from “mom and pop” sized to a corporation.
Smaller businesses, in particular, are realizing the
benefits and taking advantage of security protection
as technology improves.
3. You are probably aware
that surveillance
cameras protect against
the obvious- vandalism,
theft and unwelcome
intruders- but did you
know there are 3 BIG
reasons security
cameras will work for
your business- no matter
how many employees
you have?
4. New customers are always “strangers” to begin with, but businesses that
utilize video identification before allowing entry, can help prevent unwanted
guests. Employees can check out who the guest is from the surveillance
feed, and verify if they are OK to enter or not. For instance, this would be
beneficial for financial institutions or jewelers.
Businesses can also receive alerts and warnings, images and descriptions of
suspected shop lifters or burglars in the area. This can help prevent
unwanted problems. In some cases, business' surveillance images can even
help the local police identify a suspect and help solve a crime.
5. Security cameras are an accurate witness.
They provide hard evidence and verification
when a crime has (or has not!) occurred.
An example happened when a woman
shopping in a department store accused a
store employee of stealing her purse off the
counter. The woman demanded to be
compensated for the money that was in her
“missing” purse. The employee was able to
show the shopper playback video from the
surveillance camera that was pointed at the
counter and cash register. The video evidence
clearly showed the shopper putting her purse
in her shopping bag. The store employee had
hard proof the woman had falsely accused the
employee, and the employee could warn other
shops of this possible scam and show a
picture of what she looked like.
6. Protection of Staff and Customers
As a business owner, you have a
liability to keep both your staff and
customers safe. A business owner
takes this responsibility of
safeguarding their property, and
everyone on the premise, very
seriously. With the mere presence of
surveillance cameras, they can help
curb and discourage crime. They
can help protect the business owner
from the chance of an outburst from
a disgruntled employee, being
wrongly accused in a worker's comp
accident, or an aggressive customer.
If an incident does occur, every
moment is recorded for law
enforcement.
