Everyone wants to be more productive, but making major changes can be difficult. Start with these five simple tricks and see your productivity increase.
2. Follow the 2
minute rule
If something takes less than two minutes to do,
complete it the first time you touch it.
Don't put it aside for later, schedule it, or add it
to your task list. Just get it done and forget
about it.
3. If you find yourself stalling on something, ask
yourself, "What the next physical action I need
to take?"
Often times, we stall on tasks and projects
because the next step isn't entirely clear.
Focusing on next physical action often unlocks
the momentum for stalled items.
Think in terms of
next physical
action
4. When you have a long to-do list, it's easy to
focus on the simple tasks.
To make sure your most important work is
getting done first, ask yourself, "What is the
consequence of not getting this task done?"
Start by working on the task with the most dire
consequences.
Prioritize by
consequence
5. Email, phone, and social media alerts do way
more harm than good.
Turn off all non-emergency alerts and check
those feeds after you're done focusing on a
task. You'll find you have way fewer
distractions and that not responding to an
email within 30 seconds doesn't have
any negative consequences.

6. It may seem counterintuitive, but planning your
free time helps you commit to it.
Take a few minutes to brainstorm and plan
what you want to do during your free time. The
anticipation of an activity you enjoy will make
you less likely to book over it with other
commitments.
