Frogs lay eggs in calm waters to protect the eggs and young tadpoles. After hatching, tadpoles have gills and tails but no legs, feeding on yolk in their guts. Within 6-9 weeks, tiny legs sprout and by 12 weeks tadpoles have small tail stubs, becoming fully grown frogs by 12-16 weeks depending on their environment.
